Join our team as a Commercial Product Manager for Injection Molding!
This is a fixed hybrid role (M/F remote; Tues-Thurs onsite) at HQ in Maple Plain, MN.

The Commercial Product Manager (CPM) for Injection Molding is a strategic leader responsible for translating product capabilities into scalable, repeatable go-to-market execution.

The CPM operates with a mid-term horizon, focused on creating reusable frameworks and GTM infrastructure that improve sales effectiveness, accelerate adoption, and ensure consistent customer value delivery across segments and regions.

The CPM executes go-to-market strategy and positioning in partnership with sales and marketing , where a regional marketing counterpart exists, Product Marketing, translating it into scalable, field-ready commercial systems. In markets without a dedicated regional marketing partner, the CPM leads positioning and go-to-market strategy directly.

What You'll Do

Build Scalable Go-to-Market Strategy & Frameworks

  • Partner with sales and marketing, where available, regional Product Marketing counterparts to develop service-line positioning and value propositions into segment- and vertical-specific execution plans, leading this work directly in markets without a dedicated marketing partner.
  • Develop and maintain repeatable GTM plans including target vertical strategies, launch frameworks, and packaging and pricing guidance in coordination with the Pricing function.
  • Ensure GTM strategies are designed for reuse and scalability across regions and teams.

Develop Commercial Playbooks for Consistent Execution

  • Translate product capabilities and GTM strategy into sales-ready playbooks that standardize what we sell, for whom, and why we win.
  • Create structured guidance for strategic customer segmentation, use cases, competitive differentiation, and deal qualification.
  • Continuously refine playbooks based on performance data and field feedback.

Drive Sales Enablement Through Structured Training & Content

  • Partner with Revenue Enablement to design and deliver robust training programs, including certification and onboarding architecture.
  • Act as the subject matter expert who defines training content and structure for the service line in order to enable sales teams to be effective in positioning the service line with customers.

Translate Field Insights Into Commercial Strategy

  • Synthesize insights from customers, customer insights team, sales teams, and market trends into playbook and enablement updates, routing messaging implications to regional marketing partners where they exist and owning that translation directly where they do not.
  • Identify opportunities for new offerings or enhancements and route them into the appropriate product roadmaps.
  • Act as the field-facing feedback loop that informs Product Marketing and Product Management's strategy.

Align Cross-Functional Teams Around Commercial Priorities

  • Work closely with  Product Marketing, Sales, and Pricing to ensure alignment on service-line strategy, priorities, and execution plans.
  • Ensure sales execution stays aligned to roadmap direction and approved messaging, maintaining consistency directly in markets without a dedicated marketing partner.

Monitor Performance and Optimize Commercial Effectiveness

  • Define and track KPIs related to sales adoption, conversion performance, and segment penetration.
  • Use insights to continuously improve playbooks, GTM strategies, and training effectiveness, driving iterative improvement over time.
What It Takes
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Materials Science or related field required)
  • 3+ years of experience in product management, product marketing, or commercial product roles in a B2B manufacturing or technical environment
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical capabilities into commercial value propositions and market-facing solutions
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Operations to deliver product or go-to-market outcomes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize customer insights, market trends, and business data into actionable strategies
  • Proven experience building or contributing to go-to-market plans, pricing strategies, or product launches Excellent communication skills, including the ability to influence stakeholders and align teams without direct authority

  • MBA or advanced degree in Business or a related field (preferred but not required)
  • Experience in injection molding, or industrial production environments
  • Familiarity with value-based pricing, segmentation, and vertical market strategies

$87,800 - $117,100 a year
Protolabs offers a competitive total rewards package, and compensation mix vary based on position, such as base wage, as well as other earnings including incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, job function, work experience, specialized skills, training, education, and certifications.
