OVERVIEW


The Salesforce Developer works within the Salesforce and IT Team to focus on the development, implementation, and maintenance of custom-built Salesforce solutions as well as third party and AppExchange integrations. This role drives operational productivity and maximizes the use of the Salesforce platform by enhancing the ongoing development of the Salesforce environment in support of PLTW’s mission. Occasional travel required.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop customized solutions within the Salesforce platform to support critical business functions and meet project objectives, client requirements, and company goals.
  • Develop and maintain custom Apex Classes and Triggers as well as custom Lightning Components.
  • Administer, support, and maintain both internal and customer-facing use of Salesforce, related to custom applications, user permissions, security settings, custom fields/objects, workflows, and data management.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with other IT Teams to create functional and scalable solutions.
  • Support release management, deployments, and environment strategy including sandbox management and version control workflows.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for solutions, integrations, and architecture decisions.
  • Assist with Salesforce integration activities as needed, building working knowledge of integration patterns and tools to provide operational support for Salesforce based integrations.
  • Identify and recommend potential opportunities to incorporate innovative methods and emerging trends within area of expertise.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 years of Salesforce development experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field of study, or equivalent related experience.
  • Salesforce Platform Developer I and/or Platform Administrator I certification.
  • Experience working with Lightning and Lightning Design System.
  • Experience with custom Salesforce development (i.e. Apex, HTML/CSS, Visualforce, and/or JavaScript).
  • Experience integrating Salesforce with third-party systems.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

  • Comprehensive understanding of Salesforce platform architecture, data modeling, security best practices and integration patterns.
  • Proficiency in Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Salesforce (REST/SOAP) APIs, and authentication frameworks such as OAuth and Connected Apps.
  • Experience with declarative configuration, including Flow Builder and automation tools, and assessing declarative vs. programmatic approaches for scalable solutions.
  • Understanding of DevOps practices, including Git-based version control and deployment pipelines.
  • Accountable and takes ownership.
  • Capability to work collaboratively in a remote-first environment.
  • Excellent judgment, adaptability, and the ability to manage shifting priorities, multitask, and maintain attention to detail.
