The site supports commercial, regional, rotary-wing, and military aircraft customers worldwide, providing high quality solutions that enhance aircraft performance, reliability, and mission readiness.
We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on IT Operations Manager to support our IT infrastructure and strategy. This role blends operational leadership with strategic oversight, supporting both site level and enterprise wide initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strong technical leader with project management capabilities and a continuous improvement mindset.
This is a hands-on, working leader role. Even with a small IT team and outside vendors to rely on, the IT Operations Manager stays close to the technology shifting between strategy and execution, often in the same day. A typical week can mean discussing details on our Corporate roadmap, sharing budget needs, then configuring a server, adjusting a firewall rule, modifying an ERP screen, or resolving an end user issue.
Examples of the Work You'll Support
  • Help drive delivery of our CMMC Level 2 deployment and then support the tools and processes to secure our data across the enterprise.
  • Modernize legacy infrastructure - migrate aging servers and platforms onto current Windows Server and cloud services (Microsoft 365 / Azure) while preserving business data and minimizing downtime.
  • Support the ERP - customize and extend Pentagon ERP, build integrations with shop-floor and business systems, and streamline order-to-delivery workflows.
  • Connect the enterprise - design and maintain reliable multi-site connectivity (e.g., SD-WAN) so ERP and shared systems stay fast and available across locations.
  • Build layered security - Work with vendors that run a defense-in-depth program (endpoint protection, managed detection and response, MFA, email security) and meet defense contractor requirements such as CMMC, DFARS, ITAR, and GCC High.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 - manage and harden the tenant (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Defender) and handle licensing.
  • Support users hands on - keeping the plant and office productive through help desk operations, device and MDM management, and end user training.

Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Governance:
  • Contribute to the IT strategy and roadmap - sharing your ideas for improvements. Help keep budget aligned with business goals.
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to support transformation initiatives and business growth.
  • Establish governance across IT operations, projects, and compliance efforts.

Infrastructure & Systems Management
  • Assist with design, development, and maintenance of IT enterprise architecture.
  • Manage installations, upgrades, and configurations of hardware and software.
  • Maintain and optimize local and cloud-based networks, servers, and systems.
  • Administer Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SharePoint (OnPrem), SQL Server, IIS, Hyper-V, Oracle, and Quantum ERP.

Security & Compliance
  • Implement robust cybersecurity measures and risk management frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and industry regulations (SOX, ISO, GDPR, CMMC, DFARS, ITAR).
  • Manage data backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity policies.
  • Maintain infrastructure compliance for audits and government agencies.

Team & Vendor Management
  • Work with a small team of IT professionals and manage outsourced vendor relationships.
  • Track contracts, software licenses, and vendor performance (e.g., ISPs, telecom providers).
  • Foster a customer-driven mindset and ensure high levels of internal and external satisfaction.

Data & Analytics
  • Perform business analytics, author SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Publish reports via SQL Server Reporting Services.
  • Support enterprise-wide data management, integrations, and business intelligence initiatives.

Application Development & Support
  • Write and maintain custom programs using C#, .NET, or Python.
  • Support end-user computing, help desk operations, and technology training.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's in Information Technology, Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field required. MS or MBA is a plus.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in IT leadership within manufacturing and engineering organizations.
  • Knowledge of defense contractor compliance requirements and processes (GCC High, CMMC, DFARS, ITAR, etc.). CMMC Level 2 - deployment experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity practices and frameworks, threat assessment / detection, incident response, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 platform and licensing.
  • Expertise in implementing and managing enterprise-level IT systems, cloud platforms, and data analytics environments.
  • Proficient with enterprise-wide data management including data analytics, business intelligence, database administration, data integrations and data warehousing.
  • Expertise with enterprise architecture, system integration, and software package/application development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of networks, end user computing and help desk processes.
  • Excellent project management, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills across diverse teams and cultures.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and lead technical teams effectively.
  • Hands-on operational approach with strategic vision.
  • Applicable professional technical certifications are strongly desired.
