ABOUT BLUE PEAK TENTS

Blue Peak Tents is a rapidly growing event infrastructure company based in Batavia, Illinois, serving the Chicagoland area and beyond. We provide tenting, flooring, restroom trailers, generators, and related event services for corporate events, weddings, festivals, and large-scale productions. Our fleet of 80+ vehicles, trailers, and specialized equipment is the backbone of our field operations.


THE ROLE

The Fleet Operations Manager owns the readiness, compliance, and lifecycle management of Blue Peak Tents' entire fleet. When the Field Operations team assigns an asset to an event, it must be road-ready, legally compliant, and fully equipped. This role is the single point of accountability for fleet operations, replacing a function previously distributed across multiple people.

This is a Phase 1 hire with a clear path to a full Transportation Manager position overseeing both fleet and driver operations. At the six-month mark, the Equipment Maintenance Technician may transition to report directly to this role.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Fleet Readiness and Maintenance

• Own the preventative maintenance schedule for all fleet assets, coordinating with PMS in Geneva, IL

• Ensure all vehicles, trailers, generators, and equipment are field-ready when assigned

• Manage pre-trip and post-trip inspection processes

• Track maintenance invoices, repair estimates, and work orders

• Monitor high-cost vehicles and make data-driven repair vs. replace recommendations

Compliance and Documentation

• Own DOT inspection records, registration renewals, and insurance documentation for the entire fleet

• Build and maintain vehicle binders for every road-worthy asset

• Ensure all safety equipment is present and current in every vehicle

• Track IFTA and IRP compliance for applicable units

Vendor and Lease Management

• Serve as single point of contact for all fleet vendors including PMS, Penske, Enterprise, and TransChicago NationaLease

• Manage 12+ active vehicle leases totaling approximately $241K annually

• Coordinate vehicle deliveries, returns, and swaps with leasing companies

Fleet Tracking and Reporting

• Maintain the Blue Peak Fleet Tracker as the single source of truth for all fleet data

• Provide monthly fleet status reports covering maintenance spend, compliance, and vehicle condition

• Support capital planning by identifying when assets need replacement or fleet expansion

Restroom Trailer Fleet

• Oversee readiness and deployment scheduling of 11 restroom trailers supporting a $600K+ annual revenue line

• Coordinate with the Equipment Maintenance Technician on prep, PM, and field troubleshooting

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• 3+ years of experience managing a commercial vehicle fleet, equipment fleet, or motor pool operation

• Working knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle inspection requirements, and commercial fleet compliance

• Experience managing vendor relationships and service contracts

• Proficiency with fleet tracking tools, spreadsheets, and basic reporting

• Valid driver's license; ability to operate pickup trucks and box trucks


Preferred

• Military background in transportation or logistics (MOS 88M, 88A, 91B, or equivalent)

• Experience with leased fleet management (Penske, Enterprise, Ryder, or similar)

• CDL Class A or B

• Experience supervising technicians or maintenance staff

• Experience in event, construction, or rental equipment industries


WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

First 30 Days

• Complete a full fleet inventory and condition assessment across all 80+ assets

• Establish relationships with key vendors and audit current compliance status


First 90 Days

• Implement a functioning PM schedule with no overdue units

• All vehicle binders complete; Fleet Tracker current and accurate


First 6 Months

• Measurable reduction in unplanned vehicle downtime

• Zero compliance gaps on DOT, insurance, or registration

• Proactive capital planning recommendations delivered to leadership


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary: $80,000 to $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Full-time exempt position with benefits including health insurance, paid time off, and company holidays. As the fleet program matures (6 to 9 months), this role will join a weekend on-call rotation supporting field operations escalation.
