Position

Assistant Professor of Accounting (Tenure-Track F1166A)

The School of Accountancy in the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University invites applications for a full-time, 10-month, Tenure-Track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Accounting, beginning January 2027. We seek candidates who possess a balanced perspective toward high-quality research, effective classroom teaching, and active engagement with the accounting profession. Teaching responsibilities will include both undergraduate and graduate-level courses. The candidate is expected to teach tax and other areas of accounting.

Minimum required education and/or special licenses, registrations, trainings, or certifications

  • A Ph.D. in Accounting or related field from an AACSB-accredited institution by the time of appointment

Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Eligible to meet ODU criteria for Scholarly Academic status
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in accounting
Preferred Qualifications
  • Record of scholarly activity, including publications in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals.
  • Teaching experience and interest in taxation and/or across multiple areas of accounting.
  • Relevant professional or industry experience in taxation

The Strome College of Business offers undergraduate programs, masters degrees in accounting, economics, and public administration, an MBA, a PhD with concentrations in finance, marketing, management, and information technology, and PhD programs in business and public administration and urban policy. The College is fully AACSB accredited with separate AACSB accreditation for the accounting programs.

About the Department

The School of Accountancy offers a Master of Science in Accounting and BSBA in Accounting, in face-to-face and online teaching environments.
