Job Description

Job Summary:

The Configuration Manager (CM) / Procurement Action Officer is responsible for establishing and maintaining configuration control of missile design drawings, engineering documents, technical procedures, test reports, specifications, CDRL documents, monthly reports, and other program documentation throughout the system lifecycle. The individual ensures that approved technical baselines are accurately documented, controlled, released, and traceable in accordance with program, customer, and regulatory requirements.

In addition, the position serves as the primary Action Officer for equipment and material procurements supporting missile range and test operations. The candidate will provide comprehensive tracking, coordination, and status reporting of procurement actions from requirement identification through delivery and fielding. This role requires close coordination with engineering, operations, logistics, supply chain, vendors, and government stakeholders to ensure mission-critical equipment and technical documentation are available, accurate, and aligned with approved program configurations.

Configuration Management Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Configuration Management (CM) plans, processes, procedures, and work instructions supporting missile development, test, and range operations programs.
  • Establish and maintain configuration baselines for missile system designs, engineering drawings, specifications, test procedures, operating procedures, software releases, technical manuals, and program documentation.
  • Administer document control processes to ensure proper creation, review, approval, release, revision, distribution, and archival of controlled documents.
  • Maintain configuration status accounting for all controlled technical data and provide visibility into document revisions, approvals, and baseline changes.
  • Coordinate and process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and other configuration change documentation.
  • Ensure all design drawings, technical reports, analyses, specifications, interface control documents, test plans, test reports, and operational procedures are accurately maintained and traceable to approved baselines.
  • Manage document repositories and configuration management systems to ensure current versions are available to authorized users while preserving historical records.
  • Conduct configuration audits and reviews to verify compliance with approved technical baselines and contractual requirements.
  • Support design reviews, System Requirements Reviews (SRRs), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs), Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), and Flight Readiness Reviews (FRRs) by verifying the completeness and accuracy of technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and operations personnel to ensure approved drawing and document changes are properly implemented.
  • Maintain audit-ready records supporting customer reviews, contract deliverables, and quality management system requirements.
  • Ensure configuration management processes comply with applicable contractual requirements, industry standards, and company procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Technical Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • In lieu of a bachelor's degree, an associate degree plus significant configuration management or technical documentation experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Configuration Management, Document Control, Technical Data Management, Program Support, Engineering Administration, or related disciplines.
  • Experience working within engineering development, manufacturing, test and evaluation, aerospace, defense, or government contracting environments is desired.
  • Experience managing technical data packages (TDPs), engineering drawing releases, document control systems, and change management processes for aerospace, defense, missile, or test and evaluation programs.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or document management tools such as SolidWorks PDM, SharePoint, or equivalent configuration management systems.
  • Experience coordinating activities across engineering, program management, procurement, quality, manufacturing, and operations organizations.
  • Must be able to work well within a team environment
  • Must be able to simultaneously work multiple complex tasks.
  • Must be able to communicate well with senior leadership.
  • Experience developing status reports, action-item trackers, metrics, and executive-level briefings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.

Security Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance required.
  • Active Secret clearance preferred.
  • Eligibility to work with export-controlled and classified technical information.
