Job description

Position Summary

Odyssey has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Systems Integration Engineer supporting the Helicopter Division (HD) at Wright Patterson AFB, OH.  The HD supports selected helicopter programs including the HH-60W Combat Rescue Helicopter (CRH) and the MH-139.  The HD has a mission to rapidly deliver and field new and updated rotary wing aircraft.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to: 

  • Provide expert-level technical leadership in systems integration of rotarywing avionics and electronic subsystems, ensuring seamless interaction between embedded computers, software, digital communication systems, diagnostics, and support equipment throughout the aircraft lifecycle.
  • Conduct comprehensive integration engineering analyses covering designtotest, integrated diagnostics, interface control, and subsystem interoperability, identifying system-level impacts and resolving complex avionics and wiring architecture issues.
  • Execute airworthiness, safety, OSS&E, and MILSTD compliance evaluations, including artifact development for MILHDBK516C airworthiness, MILSTD882 safety, antitamper, IA A&A, and DAFI 631201 lifecycle engineering.
  • Facilitate configuration audits (FCA/PCA) and integration readiness activities, validating requirement verification methods, physical configuration integrity, compliance against technical baselines, and closure of integration discrepancies.
  • Advise on interface management for electrical, communication, and navigation systems, developing and reviewing Interface Control Documents (ICDs), establishing interface requirements, and resolving cross-subsystem conflicts through integration trade studies.
  • Support missioncritical avionics integration efforts such as tactical data links, position location, interphone systems, display systems, and identification systems, including EMI/RFI considerations and interoperability with crew systems, structures, R&M, and system safety.
  • Support integration activities tied to mission planning systems, geospatial/terrain databases, and periodic data updates, ensuring proper technical management of software, database loading equipment, and alignment with airworthiness and operational certification standards.
  • Perform highfidelity technical reviews of OEM proposals, specifications, design changes, and engineering data, assessing feasibility, compatibility, safety impacts, and cost-benefit implications for WIH rotarywing weapon system modifications.
  • Lead system-level integration risk management activities, identifying technical risks, developing mitigation plans, supporting deficiency report resolution, and ensuring system-level OSS&E compliance across developmental, operational, and sustainment phases.
  • Serve as a key engineering integrator across propulsion, sensors, defensive avionics, wiring, electromagnetic compatibility, survivability, and test activities, ensuring cross-functional technical coordination required for integrated rotarywing platforms.
Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: Secret

Education: 

  • ABET accredited Bachelor's Degree in engineering and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, five of which must be in the DoD
  • Master's or Doctorate Degree in a related field and ten years of experience in the respective technical / professional discipline being performed, five years of which must be in the DoD AND an ABET accredited Bachelor's Degree in engineering

Technical Skills

  • Ability to perform systemlevel integration of aircraft subsystems, including evaluation of interfaces, verification methods, and compliance with lifecycle engineering standards (DoDI 5000-series, DAFI 631201).
  • Proficiency in conducting technical reviews of OEM specifications, design changes, engineering data, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs), ensuring subsystem compatibility and integration feasibility.
  • Experience supporting airworthiness, safety, and OSS&E certification activities, including application of MILHDBK516, MILSTD882, and related engineering standards.
  • Skill in identifying system-level technical risks, performing integration risk assessments, developing mitigation plans, and supporting configuration/technical review boards (PDR, CDR, FCA, PCA).
  • Ability to support development, integration, and verification of missioncritical avionics, sensors, or mechanical subsystems through requirements analysis, system modeling, validation, and integration testing.
