Role Overview

NextCare Urgent Care is seeking a licensed Physician (MD or DO) to join our Colorado market in an in-person clinical and supervisory capacity. This role combines direct patient care in the clinic with physician oversight responsibilities supporting Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).

The physician will work onsite in the Broomfield market, providing clinical care while also serving as a key resource for APP supervision, mentorship, and regulatory compliance in alignment with Colorado Medical Board requirements and NextCare clinical standards.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care
Provide evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients presenting with urgent care and episodic medical needs, including minor injuries, infections, and acute illnesses.

Supervision & Delegation
Establish and maintain supervision agreements with Physician Assistants with fewer than 5,000 hours of clinical practice, as required under Colorado law.

Clinical Oversight
Provide guidance and mentorship to APPs to ensure practice remains within scope, training, and experience.

Quality Assurance & Chart Review
Conduct structured chart reviews and provide feedback aligned with NextCare protocols and evidence-based standards.

Availability for Consultation
Serve as a clinical resource for APPs during clinic operating hours for complex or escalated cases.

Prescriptive Oversight
Support compliance with prescribing practices, including controlled substances, in alignment with state and organizational policies.

Collaboration
Partner with Medical Leadership and Operations teams to support consistent clinical quality and operational alignment across the market.

Qualifications

MD or DO from an accredited medical school

Active, unrestricted Colorado medical license

Board Certification Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine preferred

Active DEA registration

Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience (Urgent Care or Emergency Medicine preferred)

Experience supervising or collaborating with Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants preferred
