Job description
The Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine (AZCPM) at Midwestern University invites applications for a full-time, 12-month faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. This position includes academic, clinical, scholarly, and service responsibilities and offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the education and professional development of future podiatric physicians.
Position Summary
The successful candidate will serve as a course director and contribute to additional courses through classroom teaching, laboratory instruction, small-group learning, clinical skills education, and student assessment. The faculty member will also provide clinical instruction and supervise students at the Midwestern University Foot and Ankle Clinic, an affiliated satellite clinic, or the faculty member’s approved clinical practice site.
AZCPM is seeking a collaborative, student-centered educator who is prepared to participate actively in the academic, clinical, admissions, scholarly, and service responsibilities of the College.
Primary Responsibilities
Teaching and Student Development
- Serve as course director for assigned courses within the podiatric medical curriculum.
- Contribute to other courses through lectures, laboratory instruction, small-group activities, clinical skills training, and other teaching responsibilities.
- Participate in competency-based examinations, mock interviews, and other student assessment activities.
- Serve as a faculty mentor and support students’ academic and professional development.
- Participate in College events, including orientation, the White Coat Ceremony, and commencement.
Clinical Education
- Provide clinical instruction and supervision for students in a clinical setting.
- Model patient-centered care, clinical reasoning, professionalism, and effective communication.
- Support the College’s efforts to provide high-quality clinical training opportunities for students.
Research and Scholarly Activity
- Maintain scholarly activity consistent with faculty expectations.
- Mentor and supervise students participating in research and scholarly projects.
- Contribute to the advancement of podiatric medical education and clinical practice through scholarly work.
Admissions and Service
- Participate actively in applicant interviews and other admissions-related activities throughout the admissions cycle.
- Serve on College and University committees as assigned, which may include the Curriculum Committee, Promotion and Graduation Committee, and other academic or administrative committees.
- Participate in faculty development and other College and University initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of the Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from a college accredited by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education.
- Completion of an approved podiatric residency training program.
- Eligibility for podiatric medical licensure in Arizona.
- Board certification or board-qualified status, with demonstrated progress toward board certification within the applicable eligibility requirements.
- Previous clinical experience.
- Commitment to teaching, student mentorship, collaboration, and service.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous teaching experience in a podiatric medical, medical, or other health professions education program.
- Experience serving as a course director or contributing to curriculum development.
- Experience with laboratory, small-group, simulation, or clinical skills instruction.
- Experience supervising students in a clinical setting.
- Experience with research, scholarly activity, or student research mentorship.
- Demonstrated interest in admissions, committee service, and institutional engagement.
