About the Department:
The George Mason University College of Education and Human Development (CEHD), invites applications from highly qualified individuals across all teaching licensure areas to supervise teacher candidates completing internships as part of Mason's licensure programs. Mason is seeking individuals with licensed teaching experience in the areas of early childhood, special education, elementary, secondary, English as a second language, foreign languages, and health and physical education. About the Position:
University Supervisors will demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based practices to be used in content specific classrooms.
Responsibilities:
  • Practices evidence-based practices to be used in content specific classrooms;
  • Provide performance feedback and coaching, professional expertise, and resources to teacher candidates; and
  • Will collaboratively assess teacher candidate performance in the classroom.

University Supervisors will be hired each semester on an as-needed basis and on a per-candidate/credit hour basis. This position is open on a rolling basis, and candidates will be contacted as university supervisor are needed for programs across CEHD. Unlike traditional job postings with set opening and closing dates, this opportunity remains ongoing. Qualified applicants will have their resumes kept on file for future consideration.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a master's degree or higher in education or related field;
  • Minimum of three years of licensed teaching experience in related field; and
  • University Supervisors must have availability during the school day to conduct in-person observations and evaluations in classrooms across Northern Virginia school districts.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five years of licensed teaching experience in related field; and
  • Coaching or supervision experience in related field.
