Job Title: Head Varsity Baseball Coach School: North Middlesex Regional High School Location: 19 Main St, Townsend, MA 01469 Job Description: North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated Head Varsity Baseball Coach to lead and oversee the baseball program. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership while fostering a competitive, positive, and education-based athletic environment that emphasizes player development, teamwork, character, and sportsmanship. The Head Varsity Baseball Coach is responsible for all aspects of the varsity program, including practice planning, game management, player development, program culture, communication, and collaboration with sub-varsity coaches. The coach will serve as a positive role model who develops student-athletes both on and off the field while representing the values and mission of North Middlesex Athletics. Key Responsibilities: Program Leadership & Culture: Lead and oversee all aspects of the varsity baseball program. Establish and maintain a positive, competitive, and team-first culture aligned with the mission of North Middlesex Athletics. Promote sportsmanship, accountability, leadership, discipline, and respect both on and off the field. Serve as a mentor and positive role model for student-athletes. Develop and communicate a clear vision for the future growth and success of the baseball program. Coaching & Player Development: Plan and conduct organized, purposeful practices focused on skill development, baseball IQ, conditioning, and team concepts. Develop athletes in all aspects of the game, including hitting, pitching, catching, baserunning, fielding, situational awareness, and mental preparation. Evaluate player performance and provide consistent feedback to support individual improvement. Promote year-round player development while encouraging multi-sport participation. Collaborate with sub-varsity coaches to ensure consistent instruction and progression throughout the program. Game Preparation & Management: Prepare the team for competition through scouting, practice planning, and game strategy. Manage lineups, substitutions, pitching staff, defensive alignments, and in-game adjustments. Ensure student-athletes are mentally and physically prepared for competition. Represent North Middlesex Regional High School with professionalism and integrity during contests and community events. Communication & Collaboration: Maintain positive and professional communication with student-athletes, parents, athletic department staff, school administration, and officials. Work collaboratively with assistant and sub-varsity coaches to maintain consistency in philosophy, expectations, and player development. Coordinate with athletic trainers and school staff to support athlete health, safety, and academic success. Support athletic department initiatives and contribute positively to the overall school community. Safety & Compliance: Prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of all student-athletes. Ensure proper instruction of baseball fundamentals and safe practice techniques. Follow all concussion management, injury reporting, pitch count, and athlete safety protocols. Ensure compliance with all MIAA, NFHS, Mid-Wach League, and North Middlesex policies and eligibility requirements. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Previous coaching and/or playing experience in baseball. Strong knowledge of baseball fundamentals, strategy, player development, and game management. Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate high school student-athletes. Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Must meet all district, NFHS, and MIAA coaching requirements, including: NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching NFHS Concussion in Sports First Aid & CPR Certification MIAA Coaching Education Program CORI/SORI Background Check Preferred Qualifications: Previous high school varsity coaching experience. Collegiate or high-level playing experience. Experience building and sustaining a successful baseball program and positive team culture. Ability to establish strong relationships with student-athletes, families, youth baseball organizations, and the community. Commitment to education-based athletics and developing student-athletes academically, athletically, and personally.
