Job description

LOCAL CANDIDATES HIGHLY PREFERRED - TRAVELERS WELCOME - NO SPONSORSHIP - MUST RESIDE IN THE UNITED STATES.

THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE POSITION

The Project Health & Safety Manager owns the site-wide EHS program for a greenfield semiconductor facility. This role establishes safety culture, drives compliance, and prevents incidents across a multi-contractor environment involving hazardous materials, heavy lifts, and compressed schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the site-wide Health & Safety program for all construction phases.
  • Establish and enforce safety standards across general contractor, subcontractor, and vendor teams.
  • Lead daily, weekly, and milestone safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-task plans.
  • Conduct site walks, hazard assessments, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Manage incident reporting, investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action programs.
  • Oversee permit-to-work programs including hot work, confined space, energized work, and elevated work.
  • Coordinate hazardous materials handling for process chemicals, gases, and fuels.
  • Manage crane lift plans and high-risk rigging operations review.
  • Maintain OSHA recordkeeping, MSDS/SDS library, and regulatory documentation.
  • Coordinate with owner safety teams, AHJs, and third-party safety auditors.
  • Track and report safety KPIs to project leadership and the owner.
  • Drive subcontractor safety qualification, onboarding, and field accountability.
  • Lead emergency response planning, drills, and site-wide communications.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of construction safety experience with progressive responsibility.
  • Prior Project Safety Manager role on a semiconductor, pharmaceutical, data center, refinery, or large industrial project.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926, FM Global, NFPA, and semiconductor facility safety standards.
  • Experience with process chemical, compressed gas, and high-voltage safety programs.
  • OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 trainer credentials strongly preferred.
  • CSP, CHST, or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certification.
  • Direct Tool Installs
  • Strong communication skills across owner, contractor, and craft levels.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent field experience considered in lieu of formal education.
