Refractory Services, Inc. (RSI) is looking for an organized, detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to support refractory construction projects from planning through closeout. Working under general management, this role keeps project documentation, schedules, materials, financial data, communications, and follow-up activities organized and current.
What the Role Does
  • Plan, coordinate, and close out industrial construction and refractory projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Help develop and maintain installation plans, schedules, task lists, job procedures, and action items.
  • Communicate with field operations, estimating, procurement, suppliers, and other stakeholders; escalate issues as needed to ensure timelines are met.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate project files, status updates, material tracking, and many other records/reports.
  • Establish/track project milestones, deadlines, risks, and open items, following up with stakeholders on potential delays or cost impacts.
  • Prepare requests, monitor material and service needs, coordinate deliveries, and confirm required docs.
  • Assist with budget, purchase order, invoice, and actual v. estimate tracking.
  • Support scope review, change proposals, contract documents, and customer deliverables.
  • Prepare and distribute project schedules, progress updates, meeting minutes, closeout documents, and other reports using Excel and other systems.

What You Bring
Knowledge, Education
  • Working knowledge of construction, project coordination, or related business processes
  • Associate degree in construction management, project management, engineering, or a related field is desired
  • Construction safety or entry-level PM training is a plus
  • OSHA-10 certification preferred

Experience
  • 3 years of related experience in construction, project management, or a similar environment
  • Combined education and experience will be considered
  • Industrial construction or refractory experience is a plus

  • Office environment with shop interaction
  • Travel to job sites as needed (typical jobsites located in Midwest) to support coordination, understand conditions, and ensure safety and quality
