Job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them achieve their personal goals and improve their quality of life. You will work closely with clients to foster independence, enhance daily living skills, and promote social interactions in a safe and supportive environment.

Duties

  • Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
  • Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs and preferences.
  • Support clients in engaging with community resources and recreational activities.
  • Promote residents' rights and ensure a respectful and dignified approach to care.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' well-being.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and any changes in behavior or health status.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to ensure holistic care.
  • Assist with heavy lifting when necessary for mobility support or transfers.

Experience

  • Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Familiarity with caregiving practices, including first aid and dementia care, is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of resident rights and the ability to advocate for clients effectively.
  • Experience in social work or related fields is a plus.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by the needs of the clients.
  • A compassionate demeanor coupled with strong communication skills is essential for success in this role.
