Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly residents to determine their unique care needs and challenges.
  • Provide both individual and group counseling sessions aimed at addressing emotional difficulties related to aging and significant life transitions, enriching their day-to-day experiences.
  • Collaborate with a cohesive healthcare team to design and implement comprehensive care plans tailored to each resident's psychological and emotional requirements.
  • Educate family members and healthcare providers about enhancing the emotional well-being of elderly individuals, equipping them with practical tools and strategies.
  • Facilitate grief and loss counseling sessions for residents and their families, offering support during life-altering transitions and end-of-life care.
  • Develop and promote cognitive stimulation activities to enhance mental acuity and engagement among elderly clients, ensuring active participation in their health journey.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on seniors dealing with a variety of mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, grief, and age-related cognitive decline. This involves addressing their distinct needs through therapeutic practices, fostering a secure environment conducive to healing and personal growth. You will play a crucial role in the emotional support system of aging individuals, helping them adapt to life changes with dignity and grace.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution or university.
  • A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience in geriatric counseling and mental health support, demonstrating a strong understanding of aging-related issues.
  • Proficiency in applicable evidence-based interventions aimed at enhancing mental well-being in elderly clients.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to establish rapport and trust with older adult clients.
  • A deep-rooted sense of empathy and cultural competence, recognizing and supporting diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
Preferred Experience
  • Additional training or specialization in geriatric mental health practices.
  • Prior experience delivering telehealth services, particularly within a remote setting.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and ethical standards relevant to geriatric mental health counseling.
  • History of engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration to support holistic care for aging clients.
Compensation and Benefits
