Job description

Job Responsibilities

• Perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical laboratory activities

• Conduct instrument maintenance, calibration, and quality control procedures

• Process and prepare patient specimens for testing

• Review, verify, and release patient results through the Laboratory Information System

• Document quality events and assist with corrective actions when necessary

• Participate in proficiency testing and competency assessments in accordance with state and federal regulations

• Support daily laboratory workflow and assist other departments when needed

• Maintain laboratory organization, documentation, and compliance standards

• Follow all safety protocols including Chemical Hygiene Plan, Infection Control procedures, and biohazard disposal requirements

• Utilize proper PPE and laboratory safety practices

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in laboratory testing

• Ability to communicate clearly with laboratory staff and leadership

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)

• Strong technical laboratory skills and troubleshooting ability

• Ability to handle confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field

• Experience in clinical toxicology, urine drug testing, or clinical chemistry preferred

Licensure Requirements

Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist License (Clinical Chemistry specialty required)

MLS/MT national certification preferred (ASCP or equivalent)
