ITW Commercial Construction North America (CCNA), a division of ITW, includes trusted brands like Buildex® (Teks®, Sammys®), Red Head (TruBolt®, Tapcon®), Ramset (Trakfast®), and PNA®, serving professional contractors since 1910. We are currently looking for a CBI Engineering Manager to join our team! This individual will be based in Glenview and will be responsible for leading the CBI process and CBI engineering team.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the Customer Back Innovation (CBI) process , ensuring engineering initiatives align with Annual Plan and Long Range Plan strategies through close collaboration with segment and functional leadership.
  • Translate customer insights into value propositions, technical requirements, and product roadmaps.
  • Drive the CBI stage gate process to ensure disciplined execution, timely project delivery, and effective resource management.
  • Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies within and adjacent to the Construction market; research market trends, customer needs, and competitive offerings to inform innovation strategy.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, applying engineering management best practices to foster innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Coach engineers through growth-focused assignments and conduct regular development conversations that align talent with career growth opportunities and business needs.
  • Lead strong cross-functional collaboration across engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, and commercial teams to optimize cost, schedule, and resource utilization.
  • Champion continuous improvement, cost reduction, and operational efficiency across the product portfolio.
  • Promote, support, and adhere to all safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures. Ensure engineering and manufacturing processes meet internal standards and regulatory requirements. Lead by example in fostering a culture of safety, operational discipline, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as directed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline required.
  • 7+ years of progressive engineering experience in new product development and/or high‑volume manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to build teams, develop key talent, and deliver great results through team members
  • Consistent demonstration of 80/20 principles and an aggressive growth mindset, with commitment to use and drive the ITW toolbox and principles
  • Proven experience leading end‑to‑end product development—from concept through commercialization—demonstrating the ability to manage cross‑functional teams, timelines, and budgets.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills; able to influence across levels and functions.
  • Action-oriented self-starter who models accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Safety-focused mindset with hands-on capability in mechanically oriented environments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint); strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, USa/Kaizen, automation, and capital projects.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrated success in people leadership aligned to ITW values, including talent development and cross-functional teamwork.
  • Natural innovator with intellectual curiosity who challenges the status quo and drives simplicity.

Compensation Information:

The pay range for this position is $130,000-$165,000. Base pay within this range is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant skills, experience, and education.

In addition to a competitive salary, employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance; disability and life insurance; a 401(k) plan with company match and additional employer contributions; flexible spending accounts.
