The Ingram Micro Safety and Security Manager (SSM) position is the primary safety and security authority at the Distribution, Returns, and Configuration Centers located across the United States. The purpose of this position is to implement the appropriate safeguards/tools for the protection of company assets, personnel, training, product, and visitors on Ingram Micro property. The Manager serves as the on-site safety and security advisor to local distribution center management for all matters relating to the protection of wealth generators.
This position is in Carol Stream, IL reporting to the Director of Security and indirectly reporting to the Director of Operations.
Your role:
  • Manage the Safety program as well as the Corporate Security Program to ensure compliance and proper documentation.
  • Audit monthly facility inspections, document findings, and follow up to ensure that actions are taken to correct safety-related discrepancies. Ensure maintenance of facility inspection documents for a minimum of three years.
  • Lead incident investigations, conduct root cause analysis (RCCM), and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Oversee safety audits, inspections, and emergency drills to evaluate workplace safety standards.
  • Assist with development and delivery of training programs, including manual handling, hazardous materials handling, and emergency response.
  • Implement safety culture initiatives, including behavioral safety programs and employee engagement strategies.
  • Creating a positive workplace culture with annual initiatives such as I AM Safe and RUOK days.
  • Promoting the health benefits of good work and encouraging positive workplace relationships.
  • Consistent communication about Safety Performance and updates through various platforms such as health and safety committees, team meetings, monthly town halls, toolbox talks, associate induction training, notice boards, and the intranet.
  • Post Incident Review process for all incidents as per Safety Incident/Injury Management Process.
  • Notify in country stakeholders, regional operational leaders, the global safety team, and global operational executive leaders once an incident is registered in Safety Champion.
  • Ensure sufficient 1st Aid resources is in place.
  • Audit selective accident, loss, and theft reports, analyze trends, and supervisor investigations. Identify preventative measures, present recommendations to senior management and implement corrective action plans.
  • Serve as the chairperson of the Health & Safety Committee comprised of associates from each department that meet monthly to discuss safety issues. Required to post minutes by the fifth day of the following month.
  • Ensure safety and security huddles are being conducted and recorded via a Class Training Record.
  • Manage various aspects of workers' compensation program. Communicate with HR, carrier, clinic and worker to facilitate care and treatment.
  • Serve as contact for safety inspections by any regulatory agency and security audits by U.S. Security Services.
  • Ensure that the facility meets all federal, state and local safety regulations and Ingram Micro safety and security policies. Maintain disciplinary action log of those associates that violate these standards. Serve as primary liaison with local police, fire, and other government agencies as required, ensuring that they are familiar with the facility in the event of an emergency requiring their assistance.
  • Implement emergency action plans and schedule regular emergency evacuation drills.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of warehouse operations and the procedures for receiving stocking, inventory control, order picking, and shipping. Interface with the appropriate department managers to monitor associate compliance with Ingram Micro operational policies and procedures. Develop go-to contacts in each operational group for security related issues.
  • Develop and manage the security budget and ensure that systems are maintained and operational and that necessary security coverage is provided.
  • Audit the activities of the contract security personnel and serve as the primary liaison with the local contract services company. Ensure that they are performing their duties in accordance with Ingram Micro policy and procedures.

What you bring to the role:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant fields (e.g., criminal justice, security management, public safety, criminology, business or equivalent) OR High School diploma and equivalent combination of education and relevant experience within safety and security.
  • A minimum of five years previous security experience in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and common terminology.
  • Knowledge of the operation of basic physical security systems, such as CCTV, video, alarm systems, access control, and fire life safety.
  • An ability to interface with people at all levels within the company, clearly communicate ideas and concepts, and maintain composure and a high level of calmness.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, oral and problem-solving skills.
  • Light typing and ability to use a PC, including Excel and Microsoft Word.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,800.00 - $137,300.00 per year.
The ranges above reflect the potential annual base pay across the U.S. for all roles; the applicable base pay range will depend on the candidate's primary work location, pay grade, and variable compensation plan. Individual base pay within each range depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time of hire. New hires starting base pay generally falls in the bottom half (between the minimum and midpoint) of a pay range.
At Ingram Micro certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus or sales incentives and long-term incentives. These awards are allocated based on position level and individual performance.
