Position Summary:
The Municipal Equality Index Temp will work with the MEI staff under the direction of the Senior Manager of State and Municipal Programs, focusing on research, data preparation, and scorecard creation for the Municipal Equality Index. Municipal Equality Index Temp must be extremely proactive, detail oriented, with database experience and demonstrate aptitude to handle a multitude of projects simultaneously.
This is a three-month, in-person hybrid position beginning in September 2026 and ending in November 2026. This position will be part-time at 12 hours per week with an hourly rate of $22.50.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Data entry into HRC's internal database and tracking spreadsheets
  • Creation and maintenance of scorecards
  • Potential correspondence with cities in relation to scorecards
  • Research and analysis of municipal laws and policies
  • Assistance delivering the publication of the Municipal Equality Index and coordinating logistics for a launch event
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications:
  • Exemplary time management skills and the ability to prioritize urgent items.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail is required.
  • Works well in a team and collaborative environment.
  • Must have a professional and responsible manner.
  • Experience and comfort with Microsoft Office Apps and Google Drive Suite, with a particular emphasis on spreadsheets.
  • Personal interest in and commitment to LGBTQ+ rights is required
  • Ability to provide timely and accurate legal research and analysis is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Municipal Equality Index highly preferred.

All positions at the Human Rights Campaign may require travel on a regular basis or periodically. Where the need arises for business travel, appropriate compensation as outlined by the Fair Labor Standards Act will apply.
