Job description

Job Summary

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for endtoend materials and supply chain management, including purchasing, materials planning, production support, inventory control (raw materials, WIP, and finished goods), warehousing, logistics coordination, and supplier relations. This role works closely with the global commodities/sourcing group on supplier selection, contracts, and longterm sourcing strategies.

The Supply Chain Manager ensures that material and finished goods flows support the Master Production Schedule and customer demand while meeting cost, service, and inventory targets. This position leads a team of purchasing, planning, inventory, and warehouse personnel, and maintains compliance with FDA, ISO, SOX, and company standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supply Chain Management & Planning

  • Own endtoend supply chain planning for the site, covering raw materials, components, and finished goods.
  • Develop and manage mid to longterm supply and inventory plans (0-24 months) in alignment with sales forecast, production capacity, and financial targets.
  • Monitor and maintain planning parameters in Oracle/ERP (safety stock, reorder points, lead times, lot sizes) and ensure master data integrity.
  • Coordinate demand and production plan changes among Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Corporate Supply Chain.
  • Support new product introductions, product transfers, and engineering changes by ensuring appropriate phasein/phaseout of materials and finished goods.

Purchasing & Supplier Relations

  • Manage purchasing activities for direct and indirect materials: issue POs, track open orders, and ensure ontime delivery to support production and customer commitments.
  • Work closely with the global commodities/sourcing group to: 
    • Identify and qualify suppliers.
    • Participate in contract negotiations, pricing, and longterm agreements.
    • Align on global sourcing strategies and supplier consolidation opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and costeffective supply.
  • Monitor supplier performance (delivery, quality, responsiveness) and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Finance on cost control, budgeting, standard costing, and variance analysis related to materials and inventory.

Inventory & Finished Goods Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective inventory control processes across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and transaction integrity within Oracle ERP/MRP and warehouse management systems.
  • Oversee cycle counts and physical inventories; analyze results and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor inventory levels, turns, and days on hand; identify slowmoving, excess, obsolete, and consignment inventory and recommend disposition.
  • Ensure appropriate storage, labeling, traceability, and configuration control for all materials and finished goods, including ECO impacts.
  • Balance service, cost, and working capital objectives by optimizing inventory policies and stocking strategies.

Warehouse & Logistics Operations

  • Oversee daytoday warehouse operations: receiving, putaway, storage, picking, kitting, packing, and shipping.
  • Ensure timely and accurate receipt of incoming goods and verification against purchase orders and shipping documents.
  • Coordinate material flow (including shortage resolution) to support the Master Production Schedule and customer requirements.
  • Optimize warehouse layout and material flow to maximize safety, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Establish and enforce SOPs for warehouse, material handling, and finished goods distribution.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, FDA, ISO, and internal safety and quality standards.
  • Manage warehouse equipment and ensure operators are properly trained and certified.

Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead and develop a team of buyers, planners, inventory analysts, and warehouse personnel.
  • Set goals and KPIs; provide coaching, feedback, and performance reviews.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accuracy, customer focus, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead or support supply chain improvement initiatives such as ERP enhancements, planning tools, and process standardization.
  • Prepare and present supply chain performance metrics (inventory accuracy, turns, OTIF, stockouts, supplier performance, warehouse productivity, safety) to site and corporate leadership.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain, purchasing, planning, inventory, and/or materials management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in finished goods planning and distribution preferred.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or management experience leading supply chain, purchasing, planning, or warehouse teams.
  • Experience in regulated environments (FDA, ISO, GMP) preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of supply chain principles, purchasing, inventory control, materials planning, production scheduling, and basic logistics.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen: understanding of cost drivers, budgeting, standard costing, and variance analysis.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems; Oracle applications strongly preferred.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and good inventory management practices.
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP, or similar) preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use data for decisionmaking and performance improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of PowerPoint and Word.
  • Excellent organizational, problemsolving, and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and influence stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and implement standardized processes.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Inventory accuracy and transaction data integrity.
  • Inventory turns and days on hand for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Ontime and infull (OTIF) delivery performance to internal and external customers.
  • Frequency and impact of stockouts and production downtime due to material shortages.
  • Supplier ontime delivery, quality, and responsiveness.
  • Warehouse safety performance (recordable incidents, near misses).
  • Cycle count effectiveness and reconciliation performance.
  • Adherence to FDA, ISO, SOX, and internal audit requirements.

The annualized base salary range for this salaried position is $98,400.00 to $164,000 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation will depend on factors including relevant experience, skill set, knowledge, geographic location, education, business needs, and market demand.
