Job description

Position Purpose

The Health Data Analyst supports the use, storage, integration, and analysis of prescription drug and healthcare data. This role assists in delivering reporting and analytical insights to support pharmacy operations, program performance monitoring, and business decision-making under the guidance of senior team members.

How You Contribute to the Company's Mission in This Role

  • Supports pharmacy business processes by assisting with data reporting, analysis, and data management activities
  • Develops and maintains reports and analyses related to prescription drug utilization, operational performance, and financial outcomes
  • Writes and executes data queries and prepares datasets for reporting and analytical use
  • Performs data validation, quality checks, and testing to ensure accuracy and completeness of data and reporting outputs
  • Assists with data integration, conversion, and transmission activities to support business needs
  • Assists with departmental financial modeling, budgeting, compliance, regulatory reporting, and audit tasks
  • Collaborates with internal teams (e.g., Pharmacy, Health Analytics, IT, EDW) to fulfill data and reporting requests and to support issue resolution

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Accounting, Information Management Systems or related field. Four years of related experience can be used in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in operational, data, statistical, and/or financial reporting
  • Minimum 2 years experience working with large data sets in a DBMS, such as SQL, SAS, Teradata, etc. (Computer programming experience can be used in lieu of DBMS experience.)
  • Strong analytical, research, data validation, and report development skills with attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of data structures, data analysis, and reporting concepts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to summarize findings clearly

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience creating queries, performing data manipulation, and executing ad hoc reporting
  • Experience working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Teradata), familiarity with SQL programming, and experience with applications for advanced statistical work, data visualization, and/or reporting such as SAS, Tableau, Power BI, and Databricks
  • Experience in the health insurance or prescription drug industry
  • Experience with Microsoft applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, SQL Server Management Studio),
  • Experience using programming or scripting languages for data extraction and analysis
  • Familiarity with insurance claims, provider charge practices, and billing methodologies
  • Experience developing reports, dashboards, and datasets under guidance from senior analysts
