About the Employer
San Luis Coastal Unified School District represents the communities of Avila, Edna Valley, Los Osos, Morro Bay, and San Luis Obispo and currently has an enrollment of approximately 7,500 students. Small neighborhood schools are a hallmark of the District where students are educated from preschool through twelfth grade and a world-class adult school program offers unique, life-improving courses to thousands of community members.
Job Summary
The Drama Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the school's drama program, adhering to all local, state and federal laws, policies and directions of the Governing Board of the District.
The Drama Director receives direction from the site principal or administrative designee and works with assigned school staff to provide a drama program which promotes the physical, mental, moral, and emotional well-being of the individual students.

Comments and Other Information
The Drama Director works with high school students to coordinate productions over the course of the school year. Responsibilities include the overall practical and creative interpretation of a script, taking into account physical aspects of a production. The director oversees all stages of the process, from design and pre-production stages to rehearsal and final performances.
If teaching in a Drama or Theatre Arts class, a valid California credential authorizing instruction in Drama or Theatre Arts to secondary school students is required.
Must meet the requirements for employment in the public schools, including background clearance through the DOJ and FBI, and TB clearance.
