PURPOSE AND MISSION:
  • The Technical Rep will work in conjunction with the sales force and lab, supporting plant implementations, training, troubleshooting, color matching, customer product performance requirements, documentation, and account maintenance (on designated accounts).
  • This function is to allow the sales rep to manage the accounts & allow for additional opportunities and to accelerate the sales and implementation cycles. The involvement of the technician in an account will be justified by the sales representative and the technician, with final approval coming from the National Technical Manager.
  1. EXPECTATIONS:
    • This position will work with the sales force and be responsible for documentation and communications to ensure that both Gemini & our customers' expectations and timeline requirements are being met.
    • Set up document procedures and maintain files on all customers for all of the products utilized in the field by customers, STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES.
    • Communicate in writing with the Lab on all formula adjustments made in the field to ensure product stability and film integrity standards are met.
    • Listen to team members & customers' needs about product & time frames.
    • Possess a high work ethic, moral and personal integrity, and honesty
    • Be mature, flexible, and self-motivated.
    • Exemplify professionalism in personal appearance, manner, and dress according to acceptable standards set by the company.

  1. AUTHORITY:

The Technical Rep is granted the necessary authority to manage, direct, and administer the operations of Gemini Industries, Inc. under the control of this position. This authority includes, but may not be limited to:
    • With adequate information, this position may stop production of a product because of his/her concerns; communicating these concerns through his/her team leader or the lab.

QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to meet and accomplish the following. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the Technical Support function.
Education/Experience: A four-year college degree or 5 years of experience in the Coatings and application-related field is required.
Skills/Knowledge: The Technical Support Rep must:
  • Be able to work math problems with percentages and ratios.
  • Must know the metric system for conversion
  • Be able to produce results with little direct supervision.
  • Be able to operate Microsoft Office software.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of the differences in products and applications.
  • Must have a complete understanding of application equipment.
    • Manual and automated
  • Must have a complete understanding of coating systems.
    • Solvent-based
    • Water-based
    • UV curable

Skills/knowledge continued:
  • Should have the ability to formulate colors (color test to be administered).
  • Must possess the ability to analyze & evaluate issues utilizing facts, processes, and identifying variables, then communicate clearly, verbally & in writing recommendations and possible solutions.
  • Have a familiarity with solvents & additives and their correlations with coatings.
  • Have a familiarity with testing parameters; KCMA, AWI, ASTM etc...
  • Be able to communicate between departments and remain objective.
