Job description

About the Company

Galloway & Company, Inc. is a people-first company where collaboration, innovation, and career growth are at the heart of everything we do. You will grow personally and professionally with a supportive culture, flexible work environment, and strong focus on leadership development. You'll also work on diverse, impactful projects alongside multidisciplinary professionals who are passionate about making a difference. At Galloway, you're not just building communities — you're building a fulfilling career.

About the Role

As a Survey Party Chief, you serve as the leader of a field crew, taking charge of boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, topographic data collection, and construction staking. With a strong foundation in the principles and practices of surveying, you operate and adjust instruments such as total stations and GPS/GNSS receivers, including Trimble hardware and software like TSC3, Access, and TBC. Experience with laser scanning instruments is an added asset, helping you tackle complex tasks with modern precision.

You know how to interpret engineering plans, legal descriptions, and deeds to collect all the data necessary for accurate and efficient survey work. Whether you're leveling, traversing, or mapping a new subdivision, you bring both skill and attention to detail. You’re familiar with AutoCAD Civil 3D, and although your focus is in the field, you understand how your data integrates into the broader workflow.

With at least four years of experience, you’ve developed a keen eye for both boundary lines and the construction process. You know how projects progress on-site and can stake accurately using alignments, templates, and detailed construction plans—ensuring that each phase is executed correctly. You're also conscious of budgets, timelines, and safety procedures, and you lead your team with the professionalism and efficiency that clients have come to expect from Galloway.

Beyond technical skills, you are a communicator. You keep your team informed, interact effectively with other disciplines on shared projects, and represent Galloway in a way that strengthens client relationships. Your field performance helps drive new business development, simply by delivering excellent work that clients trust.

You’re licensed to drive and ready to travel as needed, sometimes on short notice, for assignments across the region. In addition to being self-directed, you thrive in a leadership role—able to operate independently while managing your crew with a calm and capable demeanor.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum 4 years of field experience in land surveying.

Starting pay ranges from $34.00-$42.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Beyond Base Salary

We’ve cultivated a culture rooted in collaboration, growth, and innovation. Here’s what you can expect:

  • 100% employer-paid benefits, setting a high standard in the industry
  • Opportunities for biannual performance bonuses and profit sharing
  • A workplace culture that emphasizes internal promotion, mentorship, and career advancement
  • Nationally recognized as a great place to work—thanks to our outstanding teams and commitment to quality

All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Galloway does not sponsor H1-B or other work visa petitions. Pre-employment and ongoing drug screening is required.

Galloway & Company Inc. is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities.
