Job Summary:
The Floating Meat Manager oversees meat department operations across multiple store locations, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations while maintaining high standards of service and operational efficiency. This role involves frequent travel and requires flexibility to provide support, manage staff, and ensure department consistency and quality.
Essential Functions of the Position:
  • Manage meat department operations across various store locations, ensuring alignment with company standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including HACCP and OSHA guidelines.
  • Train, develop, and evaluate staff, including meat cutters, deli clerks, and meat managers, to uphold departmental standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels, product quality, and displays to maintain consistency and meet sales targets.
  • Implement strategies to improve sales and profitability across assigned locations.
  • Provide hands-on support to store-level Meat Department Managers, addressing operational challenges and ensuring readiness for daily operations.
  • Coordinate with regional management to align department goals with overall company objectives.
  • Address and resolve customer feedback and issues, ensuring a positive shopping experience.
  • Travel frequently to various store locations as assigned by the Meat Director to provide coverage and support.

Knowledge:
  • Extensive knowledge of meat department management and sales strategies.
  • skills to perform cutting tests, calculate tare weight allowances; analyze or calculate gross profit margins, yields, ratios, percentages, and itemized pricing breakdowns for both the carcass and boxed beef, including various cuts; verify vendor invoice charges and counts; and complete and submit required records and reports.
  • Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of primal product cuts.
  • Familiarity with retail stocking procedures and inventory management.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Over two years of Meat Manager experience is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is required. Three years of meat-cutting experience in a retail environment is preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
