Job description

FCA is seeking a talented and experienced Project Architect to join our team in New Haven, CT. The ideal candidate will bring 10 to 15 years of architectural experience leading projects from concept through completion across a variety of building types. Experience in Higher Education, Healthcare, Mixed-Use Residential, and Workplace projects is preferred, with the ability to manage complex project requirements, multidisciplinary coordination, and client relationships throughout all phases of design and construction.

This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and collaboration skills to oversee project teams, coordinate consultants, manage project documentation, and support construction administration activities. The Project Architect will work closely with clients, internal teams, and external consultants to deliver high-quality design solutions that meet project objectives, regulatory requirements, budget, and schedule expectations. Architectural licensure and proficiency in Revit are required. Duties and Responsibilities Lead all phases of architectural projects from programming and schematic design through construction administration. Manage projects of varying scales and complexities, ensuring high standards of design quality, technical execution, and client service.

Supervise project teams, delegate responsibilities, coordinate workflow, and review the work of internal staff and external consultants. Provide technical leadership, including code analysis, material selections, constructability reviews, and specification coordination. Oversee construction document production, quality control processes, and BIM model management.

Coordinate with engineering consultants and specialty consultants to ensure seamless project delivery. Attend and lead client meetings, presentations, and project workshops. Collaborate closely with Project Managers to ensure projects are executed according to established work plans, budgets, and schedules.

Identify project risks and develop solutions to maintain project goals and client expectations. Support construction administration activities, including submittal reviews, RFI responses, site observations, and coordination with contractors. Serve as a mentor to junior staff, fostering professional development and technical excellence.

Champion design excellence and promote innovative, sustainable, and client-focused solutions. Contribute to firm-wide quality assurance and quality control initiatives and share best practices with project teams.Requirements Local to the New Haven area and able to work in the office a minimum of three days per week. Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program

Registered Architect required. 8 to 12 years of professional experience in an architectural practice. Demonstrated experience leading projects through all phases of design and construction.

Experience in Higher Education, Healthcare, Mixed-Use Residential, and Workplace projects preferred. Strong knowledge of building codes, accessibility requirements, life safety regulations, and construction documentation standards. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and multidisciplinary teams.

Excellent communication, collaboration, leadership, and client relationship management skills. Ability to exercise sound judgment, make informed decisions, and solve complex design and technical challenges. Advanced proficiency in Revit required.

Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Rhino, Enscape, Lumion, or similar visualization tools preferred. Experience with sustainable design principles and LEED-accredited projects is a plus. What FCA Offers Collaborative and supportive team environment.
