DescriptionJob Summary: An Emory spiritual health clinician (formerly chaplain) facilitates and provides spiritual care and counseling for a designated treatment inpatient and/or outpatient treatment area or for a system clinical service line. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: - May provide consultation on ethical issues. - May provide individual and group counseling sessions and crisis intervention.
- May develop and facilitate various support groups. - Plans and conducts religious services when needs indicate. - Participates in or chairs various multi-disciplined hospital committees.
- Assists in planning, implementing, and evaluating established spiritual health programs, policies and procedures. - Assesses and identifies areas for program development and assists in establishing new research, training and innovating intervention initiatives. - Contributes to writing and publishing in professional journals when indicated.
- May teach or lecture by invitation. - Prepares and conducts workshops and discussion groups on topics related to clinical spiritual health. - Will be responsible to participate in patient treatment plans, multi-disciplinary rounds and periodic on-call.
- Provides care for staff to help in ameliorating burnout and to increase resilience and team cohesion. - Performs related responsibilities as required. Minimum Qualifications: Education: - A Masters of Divinity or qualifying graduate degree that meets criteria for BCCI, Inc.
(BCC) board certification. - Ordination or endorsement by an acknowledged faith tradition. - Four consecutive units of ACPE, Inc.
clinical spiritual health education (CPE) with demonstrated competence. Experience: Specialty areas require previous health care experience in the designated service (i.e. mental health, geriatrics, pediatrics) and may require certification by one or more certifying agencies
Certification: Expectations within the first 1.5 years are to complete BCCI, Inc. board certification (BCC) foundational preparation in Cognitively Based Compassion Training (CBCT's) and become a registered clinician in Compassion-Centered Spiritual Health (CCSH's). PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium Max 25lbs): up to 25 lbs., 0-33% of the work day (occasionally) Lifting 25 lbs
max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs.; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environmental conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure, Bio-hazardous waste chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, Communicable diseases, Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required
