Job Summary:
Assists professional staff under RN supervision, ensuring patient safety, care, and comfort in a critical care environment. Performs direct and indirect patient care, clinical tasks, cardiac monitoring, and unit support functions. May assist in emergency/code situations and provide one-to-one observation when needed. Assist patients with Bathing, Bedding, Toileting and Dressing
WHAT WILL YOU NEED TO BE A CRITICAL CARE TECHNICIAN?
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Healthcare terminology/coursework preferred.
  • BLS certification preferred.
  • Previous hospital/critical care experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Should be able to push/pull/lift/move 25-35 lbs.
  • Perform manual tasks and data entry.
  • Sit, squat, walk, and stand for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to communicate in English.

WHAT WILL YOU DO AS A CRITICAL CARE TECHNICIAN?

Responsibilities:
  • Safety: Prevent falls, report hazards, check equipment.
  • Patient Care: Assist with hygiene, ADL devices, skin care, positioning, toileting, and catheter care.
  • Cardiac Monitoring: Perform EKGs and continuous cardiac rhythm observation; identify and report critical changes.
  • Clinical Procedures: Obtain and document vital signs, blood glucose, and I&O; collect specimens.
  • Mobility Support: Assist with positioning, transfers, ambulation, and range of motion exercises.
  • Feeding & Nutrition: Assist with feeding and tube feeding setup; record intake/output.
  • 1:1 Observation: Ensure patient safety through close supervision and timely communication with RN.
  • Clerical Tasks: Answer phones, record care activities, support unit organization.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to Code 10 and Code Blue situations and assist with CPR.
  • Infection Control: Follow all procedures related to exposure control, PPE, and equipment cleaning.
  • Environmental Maintenance: Stock supplies, maintain clean patient areas, and transport patients/specimens.

Salary Range: $16.63-24.11/hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
