Design Engineer | Delta Township, MI

Salary Range: $70,000 - $109,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We collaborate with manufacturing companies in the Delta Township region seeking Design Engineers. These employers partner with us because they want real insight into candidates-not just resumes. By joining our network, you gain access to roles worth considering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops new products and product enhancements.
  • Creates detailed engineering drawings and specifications using CAD software.
  • Collaborates with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are production-ready and cost-effective.
  • Conducts design reviews and implements feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Performs stress analysis and simulations to validate design integrity.
  • Investigates and resolves design-related manufacturing issues and non-conformances.
  • Selects and specifies appropriate materials and components for product designs.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • 3+ years experience in product design within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) for part and assembly design.
  • Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, stamping, machining) and their impact on design.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on optimizing designs for performance, cost, and production efficiency.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with generative design tools.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Proficiency in a scripting language (e.g., Python) for design automation.
  • Background in advanced materials (e.g., composites, additive manufacturing metals).
  • Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFM/DFA).
