Job description

Operator, Shift 2, Markers, Forks I

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Team Operator position will ensure that packing/ assembling requirements are fulfilled in accordance with the production schedule, and verifies that materials used and the assembled part meets product and process specifications. The Team Operator works under the direct supervision of their Team Manager.  Employees within this classification perform all duties and responsibilities associated within assigned team focusing on the goals, objectives and priorities of the facility. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs various production and packing operations with technically complex machinery. Performs adjustments and set up of technically complex machinery.  Responsible for maintaining efficiency standards on machinery by ensuring continuous operation. Visually observes and inspects operations of the equipment and makes adjustments as required. Gathers needed materials for production and prepackaging materials, relieves jams; feeds, counts, stacks and replenishes various packaging materials, finished stock and work in process.
  2. Follows standard work methods including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and practice safe work habits to ensure production is efficient and safe. Continually inspects for quality in accordance with established procedures.  Removes and replaces all non-standard items prior to completion of operation.  Maintains accurate records on production, materials used, and other information required.
  3. Must learn various jobs and duties as a Team Operator employee and participate in team problem solving to strive for continuous improvement. Must work in a team environment and take day to day direction from assigned leader or coordinator.
  4. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition in accordance with 5s/5m and standard operating procedures
  5. Follows standard operating procedures for inventory control and accuracy by utilizing Warehouse Management System.
  6. Train temp workforce in daily operations as required.
  7. Complies with Federal and State hazardous waste regulations including proper handling, storing, labeling, and familiarity with Crayola Emergency Action Procedure in the event of a spill or leak.
  8. In accordance with Crayola’s Desired Culture, must actively participate in Team Development and Continuous Improvement initiatives by attending meetings, communicating information, and providing input.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing, warehousing or similar repetitive assembly experience preferred.
  • Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the job (listed below).
  • Must be competent in basic math skills including:  addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages and fractions. 
  • Must have a good command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Must have the ability to work alone with minimum supervision/direction.
  • Some positions may require a valid driver’s license.
