Description

Position Summary

The Gas Critical Infrastructure Specialist II is tasked with maintaining optimal pressure within the CoServ Gas system while adhering to strict compliance standards and ensuring the proper functioning of piping, odorization, and regulating equipment. This role involves advanced responsibilities, such as performing critical inspections on Flow Control Valves and Regulators, under the guidance of a Infrastructure Specialist 3 or higher. While qualified individuals may independently handle minor duties, most tasks demand supervision to ensure precision and safety.

Responsibilities

Primary Position Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on critical equipment, including odorization systems, regulators, valves, and cathodic protection systems.
  • Maintain and monitor the system pressure year-round to ensure efficient and reliable operation.
  • Assist in balancing and addressing pressure issues, particularly during peak demand periods.
  • Implement protective measures to prevent corrosion on steel pipelines.
  • Coordinate repairs and inspections of meter/regulator stations.
  • Maintain accurate records for code compliance and regulatory documentation.
  • Assist in routine audit inspections in collaboration with the Texas Railroad Commission.
  • Serve on the emergency call-out schedule.
  • Schedule and execute routine leak surveys to uphold safety standards.
  • Adhere to CoServ safety and operational protocols, reporting unsafe practices to a supervisor.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively and operate efficiently in high-pressure environments.
  • Follow CoServ Information Security policies, procedures, and guidelines, reporting suspected security incidents to Tech Support.

Secondary Position Responsibilities

  • Enhances, refines, and executes maintenance process improvements to maximize efficiency and operational effectiveness.
  • Engages in specialized training, such as troubleshooting school and regulator school, as assigned.
  • Prepares and submits time sheets in UKG, code compliance documentation in Maximo, and other required forms with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ensure the truck is stocked with necessary materials and supplies.
  • Completes inspection documentation in Maximo detailing work requirements for equipment.
  • Consistently attend safety meetings to stay updated on policies and procedures, ensuring full compliance with regulations.
  • Maintains Operator Qualified status for assigned tasks in accordance with the CoServ Gas Operator Qualification plan
  • Keeps company-provided tools and equipment in proper working order.
  • Participates in emergency call-out rotations.
  • Travels as needed to attend training sessions and classes.
  • Remains current with CPR and emergency first aid certifications
  • Completes all mandatory CoServ University training programs.
  • Conducts annual calibrations for Digital Crystal Gauges and associated calibration equipment.
  • Maintains and monitors inventory levels, ensuring timely orders to replenish essential materials, parts, and equipment.
  • Performs other duties and activities as directed.
  • Improve, develop, and implement maintenance process improvements and efficiencies.

Position Requirements

Education, Experience, and Certifications Required

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalency.
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid
  • Obtain Class A CDL (Fifth wheel, Air brakes & Hazmat Endorsement within 180 days)
  • Obtain a CNG Category 3 Service & Installation Technician License within 180 days of employment.
  • Obtain a CNG Category 3 Delivery Truck Driver License within 180 days of employment.
  • Obtain a CNG Category 3 DOT Cylinder Filling and Exchange Technician License within 180 days of employment.
  • Maintain a LPG Service & Installation License with in 180 days of employment.

Education, Experience, and Certifications Preferred

  • Proficient in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of gas system equipment, including Mooney regulators, valves, and both electronic and mechanical measurement instruments

Skills and Abilities Required

  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of Company maps, Procedures Manual, work orders, staking sheets, NFPA safety codes, OSHA safety codes, and all relevant Company forms related to the assigned tasks.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of the Company's service area, distribution system, system construction, and troubleshooting techniques, with a comprehensive familiarity of the assigned work area.
  • Maintains a basic understanding of the Company's tariff policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Exhibits the ability to efficiently troubleshoot and complete repairs on damaged gas facilities.
  • Displays foundational proficiency in computer operations, including Windows applications, Maximo, Outlook, Excel, Word, and internet-based tools.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. occasionally, requiring strength and endurance for heavy lifting tasks.
  • Outdoor work conditions: Spends 95% of work time outdoors, exposed to various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and high winds. Must adapt to changing environmental factors while maintaining safety and efficiency.
  • Safety hazards: Works in potentially hazardous situations involving escaping gas, requiring awareness of gas detection and emergency protocols. Potential exposure to poison oak, poison ivy, and insect stings, necessitating proper protective measures and knowledge of treatment procedures.
  • Operational responsibilities: Drives a company vehicle, adhering to safety regulations and proper vehicle maintenance procedures. Frequently works in low-light or no-light conditions, using handheld flashlights or spotlights to ensure visibility and accuracy in tasks.
  • Emergency duties: Performs call-out responsibilities, responding to urgent situations and ensuring quick resolutions under challenging conditions.

Other Requirements

  • Required to possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Must reside within a 30-minute response time to the assigned service area.
