CITGO owns and operates three refineries located in Lake Charles, LA.; Lemont, IL.; and Corpus Christi, TX, and wholly and/or jointly owns 38 active terminals, six pipelines and three lubricants blending and packaging plants. Job Summary
The Rotating Equipment Engineer is responsible for maintaining the safe operation and reliability of the refinery rotating equipment by applying standard engineering principles, theories, concepts, and techniques in providing solutions to a variety of rotating equipment problems that develop during operation, maintenance repair and/or turnarounds, as well as performing root cause failure analysis in order to make recommendations for equipment that will eliminate the causes for equipment unreliability.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Civil) or other related engineering degree.
  • 4 years minimum experience, 10 years preferred, of refinery or petrochemical plant experience with rotating equipment, especially pumps, motors, turbines, and compressors.
  • SAP, word processing, spread sheet, database, presentation, familiarity with the internet.
  • Advanced level of familiarity with engineering practices and industry standards and specifications related to engineering.
  • Ability to manage assigned projects under limited supervision.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker's Identification Credential (TWIC)

Job Duties
  • Provide technical support to maintenance & operations to increase rotating equipment availability and reduce maintenance costs
  • Apply standard engineering principles, theories, concepts, troubleshooting, scope development and other techniques to provide solutions to a variety of rotating equipment problems
  • Participate in hazard and operability studies and work to resolve engineering action items
  • Champion reliability of rotating equipment in assigned area by promoting, training, presentations and other activities to keep awareness high
  • Utilize vibration and process data to troubleshoot and predict impending failures of rotating equipment in order to avoid secondary damage
  • Establish guidelines for and monitor the performance of the preventative maintenance programs
  • Provide technical assistance for rotating equipment systems on unit turnarounds and on equipment start-ups
  • Provide maintenance department input on rotating equipment repair scopes and capital projects
  • Identify and implement improvement ideas to improve operational performance, increase availability, and/or reduce costs
  • CITGO hourly employees must be qualified as a temporary supervisor per the Supervisor Development Process (OSDP, MSDP, or LSDP) and meet the minimum qualifications listed above
