Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician I to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Boston, MA.
As the Veterinary Technician I, you will help ensure the health, welfare, and humane care of laboratory animals in a dynamic research environment. In this role, you will work closely with veterinarians, researchers, and animal care staff to support clinical operations, animal welfare initiatives, and research activities.
Additional responsibilities include:• Conduct daily animal health assessments and clinical observations.• Assist with triage, treatment, and follow-up care for animal health concerns.• Maintain accurate electronic clinical records and communicate findings to veterinary staff and research teams.• Support research studies through sample collection, dose administration, surgical support, clinical scoring, and data collection.• Perform tissue sampling, animal handling, treatment administration, and other veterinary procedures.• Participate in routine health surveillance and biosecurity programs.• Assist with diagnostic procedures, necropsies, and humane euthanasia in accordance with established guidelines.• Collaborate with veterinary staff during rounds and case reviews.• Provide outstanding customer service and technical support to research teams.• Help identify opportunities to improve animal welfare, quality, communication, and operational processes.
Job Qualifications
The following are minimum requirements related to the Veterinary Technician I position.• High School Diploma or GED plus:
2+ years of laboratory animal or veterinary experience, or
AALAS Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification; or• Associate's or Bachelor's degree plus 1 year of laboratory animal or veterinary experience.
Preferred• Basic veterinary and clinical technical skills.• AALAS certification (ALAT or higher).• Experience working in a laboratory animal or research environment.
The pay range for this position is $30-32 USD per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
