Job description

About the Role

At CertainTeed Gypsum, safety isn’t just a requirement — it’s a value. We’re looking for a hands‑on, people‑focused EHS Manager to lead health, safety, and environmental programs at one of our manufacturing plants and help drive a truly autonomous EHS culture. This is a highly visible leadership role for someone who thrives on the plant floor, partners naturally with operations, and knows how to turn standards into everyday behaviors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve plant‑wide EHS programs, ensuring compliance with corporate, state, and federal regulations.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to the Plant Manager, with strategic alignment to the U.S. Health & Safety organization.
  • Coach, mentor, and engage hourly and salaried team members to build ownership and accountability for safety.
  • Analyze EHS data and translate insights into action using WCM Safety, Environmental, and Health Pillar Boards.
  • Develop, maintain, and audit ISO‑based EHS management systems.
  • Drive risk identification and reduction, including leading risk assessments and corrective action plans.
  • Promote and deliver behavior‑based safety initiatives that support a proactive, employee‑driven safety culture.
  • Lead joint health & safety committee meetings and collaborate with government agencies as required.
  • Ensure effective EHS training for all Saint‑Gobain Safety Standards.
  • Support capital projects and new equipment commissioning to ensure safety is designed into every process.
  • Partner with HR and the U.S. EHS Manager on workers’ compensation and return‑to‑work programs.
  • Participate in U.S. EHS national teams and share best practices across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Relations, or a related field (or a technical degree combined with significant relevant experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience leading Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Required Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of federal and state EHS regulations.
  • Proven ability to influence others and drive outcomes without direct authority, leading through engagement and collaboration.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with EHS systems, data analysis tools, and Microsoft Office.
  • Self-starter with a hands-on, collaborative leadership style.

Preferred Skills

  • Be part of a global organization committed to safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
  • Work in a role where your impact is visible — on people, processes, and performance.
  • Partner closely with plant leadership and corporate EHS experts.

Pay range and compensation package

Competitive compensation and benefits within a values‑driven culture.
