Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the month-end close process, including:
    • Preparing and posting journal entries
    • Performing account reconciliations
    • Assisting with financial reporting and variance analysis
  • Support the corporate credit card expense reconciliation process, including:
    • Reviewing and approving employee expense submissions
    • Verifying receipts and ensuring proper expense coding
    • Ensuring compliance with company expense policies
  • Cross-train and provide support across accounting functions, which may include:
    • Learning all functions of the Accounts Payable process
    • Processing employee expense reports and mileage reimbursements
    • Entering expense invoices and supporting Accounts Payable activities
    • Preparing budget-to-actual comparison reports
    • Supporting audits and special projects
  • Support sales tax compliance activities, including:
    • Requesting and maintaining customer sales tax exemption certificates
    • Importing and validating exemption certificates in Avalara
    • Maintaining accurate customer tax records
    • Preparing and managing sales tax filings and related accounts
    • Providing exemption certificates to vendors as needed
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
  • 0-3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Prophet 21 or sales tax platforms such as Avalara is a plus.

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to: Controller
  • Direct Reports: None
 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide cross-functional support within Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
 

Work Environment

  • This position is primarily in-office to support collaboration with the accounting team and cross-functional departments.
  • Work is primarily sedentary and involves extended periods of computer use
  • May occasionally require standing, walking, bending, and light lifting
  • Office conditions are typical, with adequate lighting, temperature control, and minimal noise
