Job description

The Cato Corporation, a leading specialty retailer of value-priced women’s fashion apparel with corporate offices located in Charlotte, North Carolina, operates three concepts: Cato, It’s Fashion and Versona. The Company has approximately 1,100 stores throughout the United States and a diverse workforce of approximately 7,000 associates. The Company’s stock is traded on the NYSE under the symbol “CATO”.


The Benefits and Retirement Plans Specialist reports to the Benefits and Retirement Plans Manager and supports the administration and day-to-day operations of the Company’s Retirement plans: 401(k), Employee Stock Purchase Plan (“ESPP”), Employee Stock Ownership Plan (“ESOP”), and Deferred Compensation plans including the annual open enrollment process, compliance reporting and invoicing. This is an in-office position.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • 401(k) Administration
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan Administration
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan Administration
  • Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation Plan Administration
  • Point of contact for Associates regarding all of the Company’s retirement plans.
  • Fill in as needed in other areas of Benefits, including Leave of Absence Administration and Medical/Dental insurance.
  • Process benefits and retirement plans funding and vendor payments.
  • Support special projects and cross functional initiatives as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:


Skills:

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of retirement plans.
  • Must be able to manage own work and meet deadlines as well as perform multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational/communication and customer service skills required.


Required:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 2 to 3 years of direct experience in retirement or benefits administration.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Access primarily).
  • Must be able to perform multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of associate information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills.


Preferred but Not Required:

  • Advanced working knowledge of HRIS systems (Lawson Payroll/HR).
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations affecting retirement plans.
  • Report writing skills.
