Job description

Carlisle Construction Materials (CCM) is the market leader in polyisocyanurate (polyiso) rigid foam insulation, developing innovative building envelope solutions that protect the places where people work, learn, heal, and live. We're seeking an Associate R&D Engineer - Insulation to join our growing Research & Development team and help shape the next generation of high-performance insulation products.

In this role, you'll contribute to the development of Carlisle's industry-leading product lines by designing and executing laboratory experiments, evaluating new raw materials, and advancing polyiso foam formulations from concept through commercialization. Working alongside experienced scientists and engineers, you'll gain hands-on experience in polymer chemistry, foam reaction kinetics, structure-property relationships, continuous lamination, and building science while making meaningful contributions to innovative product development.

You'll perform laboratory testing using techniques such as FTIR, DSC, TGA, DMA, and mechanical testing, analyze experimental data, support manufacturing and formulation optimization, and participate in plant trials that bring new products to market. You'll also collaborate with cross-functional teams across R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Procurement to solve technical challenges, improve product performance, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline (Master's or Ph.D. preferred)
  • 5+ years of R&D experience or recent Ph.D. graduate with relevant research
  • Knowledge of polymer chemistry, polyurethane/polyisocyanurate formulations, and laboratory characterization techniques
  • Experience with experimental design, statistical analysis, and technical reporting
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
