The salary for this position is $45,000.00 annually for a 193-day school calendar.ย 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:ย Theย Pre-K Countsย teachersย plans, implements, and supervises all classroom activities.ย Pre-K Counts teachersย makeย socialย service referrals and shares responsibility for parent involvement in the program. Theย teacher works inย tandem with other team members to support the goals of the program. The position caseload, and/orย center location may be reassigned as deemed necessary for program operations.ย

Essential Functions:ย ย 

  • Supervises and coordinates all aspects of assigned classroom in accordance with federal and state guidelines including, but not limited to, the Head Start Program Performance Standardsย 
  • Plans for and delivers high quality instruction designed to meet individual student needsย 
  • Activelyย supervises children at all timesย 
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of child developmentย 
  • Establishes and maintains positive professional relationships with all stakeholders (children, families, colleagues, administrators, community)ย 
  • Commits to ongoing professional learningย 
  • Implements high quality formative and summative assessment techniquesย 
  • Creates a community of learners resulting in a positive classroom cultureย 
  • Engages families in their child's instructional programย 
  • Seeks outside resources to support students and their familiesย

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk orย hear. The employee may be required to stand for long periods, and to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.ย  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.ย 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:ย This is aย full-time,ย 193-day calendar position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.ย  Hours are dependent on the needs of the districts.ย  Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel:ย Travel or transport may be expected for this position.

Education and Experience:

  • Level of Degree:ย 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhoodย 

  • PA Early Childhood Certificationย 
    ย 

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:ย ย 

  • Knowledge and skills in the field of early childhood developmentย 

  • Knowledge of PA Learning Standards of Early Childhoodย 

  • Knowledge of various service resources in the communityย 

  • Knowledge of the state and federal regulations pertaining to child abuse and neglect and childcare licensing requirementsย 

  • Knowledge of local resources, languages and customs
