Job description

Boise Cascade has an exciting opening for a Network Services Engineer Senior. Please review the responsibilities and qualifications needed below and apply today!

Purpose of the Role 

The Network Services Engineer Senior participates in the design, operation, and optimization of Boise Cascade’s network infrastructure. This role ensures reliable, secure, and scalable connectivity across all business locations, leads network projects, and works with a team of network professionals to support organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure network reliability, performance, and security, proactively monitoring and resolving issues
  • Oversee network-related projects, upgrades, and expansions to support business growth
  • Develop and enforce network policies, standards, and best practices
  • Collaborate with IT and business units to align network solutions with operational needs
  • Prepare and present network performance metrics and status reports to leadership
  • Lead incident response and root cause analysis for network outages or security events
  • Assist in the design and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans for network infrastructure to ensure minimal downtime during outages or emergencies
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation including topology diagrams, configuration standards, IP address management, and operational procedures
  • Lead network infrastructure projects from conception through implementation, including upgrades, migrations, and new site deployments while managing timelines and resources
  • Design and implement network segmentation strategies, VLANs, and access control lists to support organizational security requirements and regulatory compliance
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and corporate policies
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging network technologies including SD-WAN, software-defined networking, cloud connectivity, and automation tools to enhance capabilities
  • Design, implement, and support secure network connectivity for cloud environments, including Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), ensuring integration with on-premises and hybrid architectures
  • Work with cloud providers and internal teams to optimize cloud networking, including virtual networks, VPNs, and inter-cloud connectivity for scalable enterprise workloads

  • Implement and manage network monitoring and management tools to provide real-time visibility into network health, performance, and security events

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: College Degree, or equivalent work experience in related job function

Preferred Qualifications: Typically, more than 7 years of experience in related job function; May require professional certification
