What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a UX Design Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a UX Design Engineer, you need a solid grasp of user experience principles, interaction design, front-end development skills (like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript), and typically a degree in design, computer science, or a related field. Proficiency with design tools (such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD) and familiarity with prototyping and usability testing platforms are essential. Strong collaboration, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication set top performers apart in this role. These skills ensure seamless integration of user-centered design with technical implementation, resulting in intuitive and functional digital products.

How do UX Design Engineers typically collaborate with cross-functional teams during product development?

UX Design Engineers often serve as a bridge between design and engineering teams, translating user experience concepts into functional, interactive prototypes. They regularly participate in sprint planning, design reviews, and technical stand-ups to ensure alignment on user needs and technical feasibility. Effective collaboration involves frequent communication with product managers, designers, and front-end developers to iterate rapidly on designs and address feedback. This collaborative approach helps deliver cohesive, user-centered products while balancing technical constraints and business goals.

What is a UX Design Engineer?

A UX Design Engineer is a professional who bridges the gap between user experience (UX) design and front-end development. They work closely with designers and developers to translate design concepts into interactive, functional user interfaces. Their role involves creating prototypes, implementing UI components, and ensuring that the final product is both visually appealing and user-friendly. UX Design Engineers use their skills in both design and coding to optimize user experiences across digital platforms.

BMC does this in a simple and optimized way by connecting people, systems, and data that power the world's largest organizations so they can seize a competitive advantage.
We're looking for an accomplished and strategic Senior Director of Product Management to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of BMC's Control-M SaaS platform. Control-M is a mission-critical orchestration solution trusted by the world's largest enterprises. In this role, you'll define the roadmap and business direction for the cloud-native evolution of Control-M, ensuring it continues to deliver unmatched reliability, scalability, and value for complex enterprise environments.
You'll partner closely with engineering and executive leadership to shape product architecture, make key trade-offs, and guide cross-functional teams in delivering a modern, customer-centric SaaS experience. This includes leading our UI transformation, integrating cutting-edge capabilities (including AI-powered features), and driving sustained growth across enterprise accounts.
Here is how, through this exciting role, YOU will contribute to BMC's and your own success:
  • Define and own the product vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for Control-M SaaS.

  • Develop clear business cases, pricing, and competitive positioning for new SaaS features and offerings.
  • Partner with ecosystem and partner program leaders to extend Control-M's capabilities and integrations.
  • Represent the product externally and internally as a strategic thought leader.

To ensure you're set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience:
  • 12+ years of progressive product management leadership in enterprise SaaS, including experience scaling large, mission-critical platforms.
  • Proven success managing complex customer bases with stringent availability, compliance, and operational requirements.
  • Strong technical acumen, you should have an ability to engage deeply with engineering on system design and architectural trade-offs.
  • Experience driving UI or UX transformations, including customer co-design or partner collaboration.
  • Understanding of SaaS commercial models, lifecycle metrics, and monetization strategies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, from technical teams to C-suite executives.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Whilst these are nice to have, our team can help you develop in the following skills:
  • Experience delivering or integrating AI-driven features or workflows.
  • Familiarity with or passion for the agentic AI ecosystem and its enterprise applications.
  • Background in the workload automation, orchestration, or scheduling domain.
