Job description

Managing Director, Advisory Operations

The Managing Director, Advisory Operations serves as the enterprise leader responsible for designing, implementing, and operating the performance engine of the Advisory service line. This role owns the systems, processes, and data required to drive profitable growth, margin expansion, and productivity improvement at scale. This role ensures Operations acts as a business ownership function, accountable for delivering measurable outcomes across revenue performance, engagement economics, and operational efficiency. The Managing Director, Advisory Operations builds a centralized, scalable operating model that minimizes administrative burden on client-facing professionals while enabling leadership with clear, actionable insights to run the business effectively.

The role is also responsible for leading operational integration during major Advisory transformations, ensuring that organizational redesigns, system implementations, and process changes are aligned into a cohesive and efficient operating ecosystem.

Job Duties:

  • Advisory performance ownership includes revenue growth, forecast accuracy, margin expansion, utilization and productivity outcomes. All duties align to driving against these measurable results
  • Leads a fully centralized Advisory Operations function with direct reporting accountability across all Operations teams within Advisory
  • Designs the operating model for the team to ensure increasingly minimal administrative burden on client-facing staff
  • Establishes capabilities and competency requirements across all roles and levels
  • Establishes consistent operating rhythms across practices and eliminates fragmentation and duplicative effort
  • Focuses on minimal meeting time and maximum transparency to enable focused execution
  • Aligns prioritization, innovation, and execution across all Advisory practices
  • Serves as the operational integrator for Advisory restructuring efforts to ensure alignment in organization design, process workflows, and data and reporting systems
  • Owns strategic implementation of systems at scale in service of revenue growth and margin expansion while retaining or growing quality of delivery
  • Designs and oversees implementation of reporting at scale including revenue forecasting, staffing plans, financial performance, AP monitoring, and transparent escalation paths across ownership areas
  • Drives innovation and improvement in all areas of the business that enable top line growth or margin expansion including, but not limited to, billings, collections, AR accuracy, risk management, client onboarding, independence compliance, RISE integration, tooling (including aI), staff upskilling, and actionable insights-based reporting
  • Establishes clear communication across Advisory activities to ensure alignment, clarity of purpose, and to inspire to drive impact at scale with minimal friction or delay
  • Defines and documents new processes as needed
  • Proactively identifies barriers to progress and implements solutions to accelerate impact across the organization
  • Other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision for employees within the business
  • Manages resources as assigned by the National Practice Leader
  • Fosters a culture that embraces change and accountability
  • Mentors practice team members in support of operational excellence

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree, required
  • MBA or Master's degree, preferred

Experience:

  • Fifteen (15) or more years operations required, experience in professional service operations, preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience, required
  • Strong leadership and management skills, required
  • Knowledge and fluency with AI tools and workforce enablement, preferred
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and margin improvement, leading large-scale operational transformations, building and implementing KPI-driven performance frameworks, required
  • Deep understanding of financial operations, billing, and collections processes; revenue forecasting and engagement economics; data-driven performance management systems, required
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives with finance, legal, data and BI teams, IT, compliance, and others, required
  • Strong change leadership skills including expert communication, expert influencing capabilities, expert at elevating performance expectations across teams, expert at adoption of new processes and systems, required
  • Proven ability to influence senior leadership, align diverse stakeholders, and build trust across functions and teams, required

Software:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, required
  • Proficient with Smartsheet, preferred
  • Familiarity with Oracle ERP Platform, preferred

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $250,000 - $350,000Maryland Range: $250,000 - $350,000NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $250,000 - $350,000
