To thrive as a Product Manager, you need strong analytical abilities, market research skills, and experience in product lifecycle management, often backed by a relevant degree or equivalent work experience. Familiarity with tools like Jira, Asana, and analytics platforms, as well as certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), are commonly required. How do Product Managers typically collaborate with cross-functional teams during the product development process?

Product Managers play a central role in coordinating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, marketing, and sales. They facilitate regular meetings, clarify product goals, and ensure all stakeholders are aligned on priorities and timelines. It’s common for Product Managers to act as the bridge between technical and non-technical teams, translating customer needs into actionable tasks and managing feedback loops. This collaborative approach helps deliver products that satisfy both user expectations and business objectives.

What are Product Managers?

Product Managers are professionals responsible for guiding the development, launch, and ongoing improvement of products within a company. They act as the link between cross-functional teams such as engineering, design, marketing, and sales to ensure the product meets customer needs and aligns with business goals. Product Managers define the product vision, gather and prioritize requirements, and oversee the product lifecycle from concept to launch. Their role is crucial in delivering successful products that create value for both the business and its customers.

Job description

Who We Are:

Bandwidth, a prior "Best of EC" award winner, is a global software company that helps enterprises deliver exceptional experiences through voice, messaging, and emergency services. Reaching 65+ countries and over 90 percent of the global economy, we're the only provider offering an owned communications cloud that delivers advanced automation, AI integrations, global reach, and premium human support. Bandwidth is trusted for mission-critical communications by the Global 2000, hyperscalers, and SaaS builders!

At Bandwidth, your music matters when you are part of the BAND.  We celebrate differences and encourage BANDmates to be their authentic selves.  #jointheband

What We Are Looking For:

We are seeking a Product Manager to lead the evolution of Bandwidth's Programmable Voice APIs. This role sits at the intersection of developer experience, telecom infrastructure, and business strategy, and is responsible for defining and delivering capabilities that power next-generation voice applications.

You will drive product vision, roadmap, and execution for APIs that enable call control, conferencing, recordings, and real-time communications-while ensuring reliability, scalability, and ease of use for developers.

What You'll Do:

Product Strategy & Ownership
  • Define and own the roadmap for Programmable Voice APIs, aligned with company strategy and market opportunities
  • Build compelling business cases for new features and investments (ROI, cost modeling, pricing strategy)
  • Identify opportunities in emerging areas such as AI-driven voice, automation, and real-time communications

Customer & Market Focus

  • Develop deep empathy for developers, product teams, and enterprise customers
  • Gather insights through customer interviews, usage data, and support trends
  • Translate customer pain points into clear product requirements and improvements

Technical Product Leadership

  • Work closely with engineering to design scalable, reliable API architectures
  • Drive improvements in API usability, documentation, and developer onboarding
  • Ensure high-quality integrations across webhooks, REST APIs, and event-driven systems

Execution & Delivery

  • Partner with engineering, design, and operations teams to deliver features end-to-end
  • Define success metrics (adoption, latency, reliability, revenue impact)
  • Lead backlog prioritization, sprint planning, and release execution

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to position and launch features
  • Enable internal teams with clear messaging, documentation, and training
  • Support strategic customers and partners during integrations

Success in This Role Looks Like:

  • Increased adoption and usage of Voice APIs
  • Improved developer satisfaction and reduced time-to-first-call
  • Delivery of scalable, reliable features that drive revenue growth
  • Clear differentiation against competitors in developer experience and capabilities

What You Need:

Core Skills

  • Strong business case development skills (financial modeling, pricing, ROI analysis)
  • Deep customer empathy, especially for developers and technical users
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear product direction

Technical Expertise

  • Experience with web service APIs (REST, webhooks, event-driven architectures)
  • Familiarity with real-time communications systems
  • Working knowledge of telecom technologies such as:
    • Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)
    • VoIP networking concepts (latency, jitter, call flows)
    • Session Border Controllers (SBCs) and call routing architectures (nice to have)

Experience

  • 5+ years of product management experience (preferably in APIs, communications, or SaaS platforms)
  • Experience working with engineering teams on highly technical products
  • Background in telecom, CPaaS, or developer platforms is strongly preferred

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with contact center platforms, AI voice agents, or conversational AI
  • Familiarity with competitors such as Twilio or other CPaaS providers
  • Experience with observability tools, logging, and debugging platforms

Why Bandwidth:

  • Opportunity to shape the future of programmable voice and real-time communications
  • Work on mission-critical infrastructure used by global enterprises
  • Collaborative, developer-focused culture with strong technical depth

The Whole Person Promise:

At Bandwidth, we're pretty proud of our corporate culture, which is rooted in our "Whole Person Promise." We promise all employees that they can have meaningful work AND a full life, and we provide a work environment geared toward enriching your body, mind, and spirit. How do we do that? Well...

  • 100% company-paid Medical, Vision, & Dental coverage for you and your family with low deductibles and low out-of-pocket expenses.
  • All new hires receive four weeks of PTO.
  • PTO Embargo. When you take time off (of any kind!) you're embargoed from working. Bandmates and managers are not allowed to interrupt your PTO - not even with email.
  • Additional PTO can be earned throughout the year through volunteer hours and Bandwidth challenges.
  • "Mahalo moments" program grants additional time off for life's most important moments like graduations, buying a first home, getting married, wedding anniversaries (every five years), and the birth of a grandchild.
  • 90-Minute Workout Lunches and unlimited meetings with our very own nutritionist.

Are you excited about the position and its responsibilities, but not sure if you're 100% qualified? Do you feel you can work to help us crush the mission? If you answered 'yes' to both of these questions, we encourage you to apply! You won't want to miss the opportunity to be a part of the BAND.
