Job description

As the Regional RN & QE Architect, you aren't just a clinician; you are the blueprint for safety, compliance, and clinical excellence. This dual-focus role combines hands-on nursing oversight with high-level systems design to ensure our persons supported receive the highest standard of care while the agency maintains ironclad regulatory health standards.
Core Responsibilities & Essential Functions
In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), these functions are considered essential to the role and must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
Clinical Oversight & Training
  • Medication Administration: Design and execute the regional medication administration program; train and certify non-licensed staff in accordance with state regulations.
  • Adaptive Equipment: Provide expert oversight and staff training for specialized medical equipment (e.g., G-tubes, hoyer lifts, oxygen concentrators).
  • Emergency Preparedness: Serve as a certified CPR/First Aid Instructor, maintaining staff certification tracking and hands-on skills assessments.
  • Professional Development: Develop and facilitate medical "In-Service" training and continuing education modules to elevate the team's clinical competency.

Quality Enhancement & Compliance
  • QE Protocols: Architect and refine quality enhancement protocols to identify systemic risks and improve health outcomes.
  • Field Audits: Conduct comprehensive site reviews and clinical field audits to ensure MAR (Medication Administration Record) accuracy and environment of care safety.
  • Clinical Assessments: Perform monthly (or as required) health assessments for persons supported, documenting changes in condition and coordinating with primary care physicians.
  • Behavioral Health Integration: Utilize behavioral health nursing expertise to bridge the gap between psychiatric needs and physical health protocols.

Person-Specific Support
  • Acute Care Coordination: Provide direct medical support and triage for complex cases or during acute medical episodes.
  • Plan Development: Author and review Nursing Care Plans and Risk Plans to ensure they are person-centered and clinically sound.

Administrative Note
  • Scope of Work: Perform other duties as assigned by Managers or Directors to support the evolving needs of the individuals and the agency.
  • Operational Flexibility: The expectation to work additional hours beyond your primary schedule, availability between 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, to meet the needs of our clients, address emergencies, or ensure operational excellence.

Physical & Mental Requirements (ADA)
  • Mobility: Ability to travel between regional sites frequently; ability to physically demonstrate CPR and lift/transfer individuals using adaptive equipment. Required to lift or move patients weighing over 50 pounds.
  • Communication: Must be able to effectively communicate complex medical information to non-medical staff, families, and state auditors.
  • Cognitive: High-level analytical skills to perform clinical audits and design quality improvement systems.
  • Visual/Auditory: Ability to observe physical symptoms and listen to heart/lung sounds during assessments.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
  • Licensure: Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Experience: 3+ years of nursing experience, preferably in IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) or Community Health.
  • Specialization: Strong background in Behavioral Health Nursing or Psychiatric care highly preferred.
  • Certifications: Ability to obtain/maintain "Trainer" status for CPR, First Aid, and Med-Aide programs.

The Tech-Forward Edge
We don't just use technology; it is the backbone of how we create, collaborate, and communicate. As a highly technical organization, we operate at a fast pace where digital fluency isn't just a plus-it's a prerequisite. We expect every member of our team to be more than just "comfortable" with a computer; you should be a power user who thrives in a cloud-first environment.
What We're Looking For:
  • High Technical Aptitude: You possess a natural curiosity for software and a "figure-it-out" mentality when navigating new platforms.
  • Google Workspace Mastery: Preference is given to candidates who are experts in the Google Workspace ecosystem (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Admin). You should understand how to leverage these tools for maximum efficiency and real-time collaboration.
  • Digital Agility: Whether it's automating a workflow, managing complex file architectures, or troubleshooting your own stack, you stay ahead of the curve.

Why Join the Avant Team?
You won't just be "checking boxes." You will be the visionary who ensures our medical systems are as resilient as the people we support. You'll have the autonomy to build better protocols and the clinical heart to care for those who need it most.
