Apollo is seeking a Director of Investment Accounting to help lead investment related analytics for Athene and Apollo's third-party managed accounts, with primary responsibility for forecasting and analyzing net investment income (NII), book yield, and spread across a diversified portfolio including mortgage loans, fixed income, equities, and alternatives. This role will report into ISG Investment Accounting and partner closely with Athene Finance, Apollo Finance & FP&A, and senior finance leadership.

The role will support core investment accounting analysis and close activities across the investment portfolio, including forecasting, performance monitoring, variance analysis, and business analytics, as well as ad hoc strategic initiatives. The Director will translate investment results and accounting outcomes (GAAP/STAT/BSTAT/SA GAAP) into forward-looking insights, an actuals-to-forecast bridge, and clear drivers of earnings.

Primary Responsibilities

Investment Analytics & Reporting

  • Lead forecasting and analysis of actuals vs. plan for NII and book yield across Athene, cedant, and third-party portfolios

  • Own and enhance driver-based forecasting models across: mortgage loans, fixed income instruments, equities, and alternatives

  • Incorporate key drivers including deployment/reinvestment activity, yield and spread assumptions, prepayment/credit trends, credit performance, and non-recurring activity

  • Support the investment accounting close by translating accounting results into investment-related drivers of volatility, investigating and resolving unexpected results, and implementing process improvements to strengthen the accuracy and timing of the close

  • Partner across front-office and back-office teams at Athene and Apollo to investigate earnings volatility and non-recurring items, and deliver clear explanations

  • Support monthly and quarterly reporting, including materials for senior leadership and board-level discussions

Process Improvement & Reporting

  • Drive continuous improvement across investment accounting and analysis, with a focus on automation, scalability, and accuracy

  • Develop and enhance reporting packages to deliver clear, timely, and decision-useful insights to senior management

  • Leverage AI and advanced analytics tools to automate workflows, improve variance attribution, and enhance forecasting accuracy

  • Partner with IT teams to build sustainable data pipelines and reporting infrastructure

  • Establish best practices around data governance, model integrity, and process documentation

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of relevant experience at an investment bank, consulting/public accounting firm, asset manager, or in a corporate strategy role with a focus on financial forecasting and analysis and accounting and reporting

  • A strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail, and the ability to connect accounting outcomes to underlying economic drivers and market dynamics

  • A critical thinker with strong quantitative and analytical skills who expresses their thoughts and ideas clearly both in oral and written communications.

  • A collaborative thinker who can also work independently, multitask and prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • A proactive and organized self-starter with a positive attitude, powerful work ethic, strong attention to detail and advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.

  • A change cultivator, with a strong technology background and a focus on automation and process improvements.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
