Job description

Job Description Maintenance Planner Setting/Hours: 100% In-Office | 7:30-4 Join trak group in partnering with a growing client in Cincinnati, Ohio that's expanding its Manufacturing team. Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Planner to improve equipment reliability and maintenance execution within an industrial environment. This role is responsible for transforming maintenance requests into detailed, executable job plans and coordinating labor, materials, parts, tools, safety requirements, and production schedules to ensure work is completed efficiently.

The ideal candidate combines hands-on knowledge of industrial maintenance with strong planning, organization, and analytical skills. Experience with SAP/CMMS, preventive maintenance programs, reliability principles, and plant safety requirements is highly valued. Key Responsibilities Maintenance Planning Review incoming maintenance work requests and develop detailed job plans.

Define labor requirements, estimated hours, materials, tools, equipment, permits, and safety requirements for planned work. Develop clear work instructions and job scopes to improve maintenance execution. Identify required spare parts and materials in advance of scheduled maintenance.

Partner with Procurement and vendors to ensure critical parts are available when needed. Maintain equipment BOMs and other planning information within SAP/CMMS. Scheduling & Coordination Develop and maintain weekly maintenance schedules based on available resources and operational priorities.

Prioritize work according to safety, equipment reliability, production requirements, and business impact. Coordinate planned outages, equipment shutdowns, and turnaround activities. Work closely with Operations to schedule maintenance while minimizing production disruptions.

Coordinate contractors, vendors, Engineering, Procurement, and internal maintenance resources. Monitor scheduled work and adjust priorities as plant conditions change. CMMS & Preventive Maintenance Maintain accurate equipment records, maintenance history, PM programs, and work order information within SAP/CMMS.

Review preventive maintenance activities and recommend adjustments based on equipment performance and maintenance history. Ensure completed maintenance work is properly documented and closed. Maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for critical equipment.

Improve CMMS data quality to support more effective planning and reliability analysis. Reliability & Continuous Improvement Track maintenance KPIs and performance metrics. Analyze equipment failures, downtime, maintenance costs, and work history to identify improvement opportunities.

Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and FMEA activities. Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend corrective or preventive solutions. Develop recommendations to improve equipment reliability, maintenance efficiency, and resource utilization.

Support continuous improvement initiatives across Maintenance and Operations. Qualifications Associate's or bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent combination of technical education, training, and industrial maintenance experience considered.

Strong understanding of industrial maintenance practices and production equipment. Experience planning and/or scheduling maintenance activities in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Experience working with SAP, CMMS, or computerized maintenance management systems.

Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Understanding of RCM, FMEA, RCA, and general reliability engineering principles. Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities.

Ability to effectively manage maintenance resources, schedules, materials, and competing production requirements. Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Safety Knowledge Working knowledge of industrial safety and compliance requirements, including: OSHA regulations Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Process Safety Management (PSM) Management of Change (MOC) Confined space requirements Maintenance permitting and safe-work procedures Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate understands how maintenance work actually gets done and can anticipate what technicians will need before a job begins.

Rather than simply putting work orders on a calendar, this individual ensures the scope, labor, parts, tools, permits, safety requirements, and equipment availability are aligned before maintenance starts. This person is highly organized, comfortable working in SAP/CMMS, and able to balance urgent production needs with longer-term equipment reliability. They also use maintenance data to identify recurring problems and improve preventive maintenance programs, equipment performance, and overall maintenance effectiveness.

If you're ready to take the next step in your career and want to make an impact, partner with trak group to explore this opportunity.
