Job description

A day in the life

Start your morning at home, review your dispatch, load the van, and head into the Utica, NY area. Your customers range from fitness centers and hospitals to motels and other businesses. On site, you diagnose issues on commercial laundry equipment—washers, dryers, and ironers—using electrical meters and diagnostic/programming tools. You install parts, verify operation, and walk customers through what you did and why. Between calls, you coordinate parts and next steps with the service manager, parts department, and vendors, then capture every detail of time, materials, mileage, and fuel so the day closes as smoothly as it began.

Core responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair commercial laundry equipment for both On Premise Laundry (OPL) and vended environments
  • Install and verify replacement parts and components
  • Document all service actions accurately, including labor and materials
  • Record travel details precisely, including mileage and fuel purchases
  • Communicate findings and next steps clearly to customers to ensure satisfaction
  • Collaborate with the service manager, parts department, and vendors to keep jobs moving
  • Maintain your tool kit, test equipment, and company-supplied service vehicle
  • Support installation teams with deliveries and equipment installs as needed
  • Take on additional tasks that keep the department operating efficiently
What you bringEducation and experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of hands-on mechanical repair; laundry equipment experience is a plus (equivalent education/training considered)
  • Familiarity with electrical testing tools and other diagnostic/programming devices
  • Experience with phone/email/ticketing-based dispatch systems preferred
Skills and abilities
  • Strong electromechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Organized and detail-focused; able to juggle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
  • Clear written and verbal communication with a professional, positive approach
  • Comfort with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Resilient, adaptable, and proactive with a strong work ethic
Territory, travel, and schedule
  • Role is based in and primarily services the Utica, NY territory
  • Substantial travel within the assigned service area
  • Occasional overnight travel for special projects
Physical and standard requirements
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, stooping, bending, climbing, and use of hands
  • Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.; assistive devices provided for heavier items
  • Ability to talk and hear; perform computer-based work with close vision and focus adjustments
  • Valid driver’s license and clean Motor Vehicle Record; a company vehicle may be provided

For New York the base compensation range for this role starts at $23.00 per hour. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
