Job description

Primary Skills:  Python programming (advanced), RESTful API design (advanced), Cloud deployment (advanced), Microservices architecture (advanced), Automated testing (advanced), Pandas/ NumPy (Intermediate)
Contract Type:  Contract
Duration:  12+ month with a possible extension
Location: Colombia/Costa Rica
Python Backend Developer
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain cloud-native backend services and REST APIs in Python.
  • Deploy and operate microservices on AWS, GCP, or Azure using containerized workloads.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within an Agile/Scrum delivery model, participating in sprint planning, code reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Write and maintain automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines. Diagnose and resolve production issues, and continuously improve service reliability, observability, and performance.

Required Qualifications
  • Professional experience developing production backend systems in Python.
  • Hands-on experience designing and operating microservice architectures and REST APIs.
  • Demonstrated experience deploying and managing workloads on at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Strong grounding in CI/CD practices and automated testing across unit and integration layers.
  • Experience delivering software within Agile/Scrum teams.
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English.

Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience with data processing libraries such as Pandas and NumPy.
  • Experience with Java backend development.
  • Experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Helm.
  • Exposure to observability tooling
