Job Title: Millwright

Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining, installing, and fabricating production machinery in a modern nonwovens manufacturing facility that supports the automotive and mattress industries. You will work primarily on 3rd shift, ensuring equipment runs safely and efficiently while supporting continuous production of thermal and acoustical nonwoven materials used in vehicle components and mattress products.

Responsibilities

  • Install, move, and set up production machinery and equipment throughout the facility, ensuring proper alignment, anchoring, and safe operation.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on a variety of manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and support continuous operations.
  • Carry out fabrication work, including cutting, shaping, and assembling metal components to modify or repair machine parts and support custom installations.
  • Use welding skills to repair or fabricate machine components, supports, guards, and other structures as needed.
  • Inspect equipment regularly to identify mechanical issues, wear, or potential failures and proactively address them before they impact production.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to support process improvements and equipment upgrades that enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Follow safety procedures and best practices while working with machinery, tools, and welding equipment to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Support training and knowledge transfer by learning on 1st shift during the training period, then applying those skills independently on 3rd shift.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean, organized condition to ensure readiness and efficiency during maintenance tasks.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and equipment issues in a timely manner, prioritizing work to support production schedules.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of millwright experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Proven fabrication experience, including working with metal components and assemblies.
  • Hands-on experience moving, installing, and setting up machinery and production equipment.
  • High mechanical aptitude with strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in welding for repair and fabrication work.
  • Ability to work independently on 3rd shift after completing training on 1st shift.
  • Comfort working with mechanical systems, relays, photo eyes, and related equipment in a production setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment producing components for automotive or mattress industries is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with thermal and acoustical nonwoven products and related production processes is a plus.
  • Ability to operate material handling tools and equipment to assist with moving machinery.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to equipment safety and reliability.
  • Good communication skills to coordinate with maintenance and production teams.

Why Work Here?

Employees enjoy weekly pay, performance-based rewards, and a supportive maintenance-friendly environment. The role offers a shift premium, additional hourly bonus opportunities, and regular gainsharing when goals are met. Team members receive annual tool and steel-toe allowances, paid uniforms, and convenient on-site amenities such as a marketplace with meal scanners and occasional food gift card rewards. The culture values practical support for maintenance staff, including dedicated equipment like tricycles to move tools around the facility, fostering an efficient and collaborative work experience.

Work Environment

The facility is clean, well lit, and dedicated to producing innovative nonwoven materials for automotive and mattress applications. There is some airborne dust that can settle on relays and photo eyes, requiring occasional cleaning as part of equipment maintenance. While there is no air conditioning, fans and exhaust openings help keep the environment comfortable, and the plant is described as not noisy. Maintenance staff use tricycles to move tools around the facility, and uniforms are provided, contributing to a practical and organized work setting.
