The RoleWe are currently seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Calculation Engines team which operates the critical servers, caching layers, and communication protocols which power Addepar's financial analytics and reporting product. More than 95% of all Addepar traffic flows through this infrastructure; you will be responsible for the next generation of development, tooling, and CI/CD systems which empower Addepar to serve our clients.
Addepar takes a market-based approach to pay. A successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on the role, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base salary for roles in Colorado, California, and New York.
The current range for this role is $150,000 - $234,000 (base salary) + bonus + equity + benefits.

What You'll Do- Design and build distributed microservice components in Addepar's calculation engine - a data intensive application
- Scale our Java-based calculation engine to 100x larger workloads using best-of-breed time series analytics database technologies
- Get involved in the decision process to make the best decision to scale with the consideration of data consistency, throughput, speed, operability and cost
- Profile and improve system efficiency in a highly concurrent platform
Who You Are- 7+ years of software engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience with Object Oriented programming languages
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to explore complex problems spaces objectively from multiple points of view, utilizing both legacy tools and modern technologies to drive outcomes
- General familiarity with some of the technologies we use:
- Java, Python, SQL, SQS, relational databases and key-value stores.
- Kubernetes
- Linux proficiency, basic shell scripting and a solid grasp of systems level programming is a plus
