Job description

Senior Integration Engineer
Business Systems
Company: Priority Wire & Cable, Inc. | Department: Business Systems | Reports to: Director of Business Systems | Employment Type: Full-time
About Priority Wire & Cable
Priority Wire & Cable is a modern manufacturer and leading supplier of wire and cable products to wholesale distributors throughout North America.
Since 1993, Priority has built its reputation around industry-leading inventory availability, responsive customer service, and dependable same-day shipping. Today, Priority supports customers through a network of distribution centers across the United States and Canada.
As Priority continues to grow, reliable connections between our applications are essential to supporting our customers, employees, warehouses, and business operations.
Position Summary
Priority Wire & Cable is seeking a Senior Integration Engineer to join our Business Systems team at our Little Rock, AR Corporate office.
This position will design, build, and support the integrations connecting Priority's core business applications and processes. The Senior Integration Engineer will serve as a hands-on technical owner of our integration platform as a service (iPaaS) environment and help establish a reliable, secure, and scalable integration strategy across the company.
The position will work closely with business leaders, application owners, operations, security, infrastructure, and outside technology partners. This person will learn how Priority's business operates, identify where systems and processes need to connect, and translate those needs into effective technical solutions.
Previous enterprise resource planning (ERP) integration experience is highly valued because many of Priority's most important integrations support inventory, orders, purchasing, fulfillment, shipping, invoicing, and financial processes. However, direct ERP experience is preferred and not required.
The successful candidate will understand that integrations are more than technical connections. They are critical to ensuring that employees have accurate information, customer orders move efficiently, inventory remains reliable, and Priority can continue delivering a high level of customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain integrations using an enterprise iPaaS platform.
• Serve as a technical owner and subject-matter expert for Priority's integration platform and integration portfolio.
• Connect applications supporting sales, order management, inventory, purchasing, warehouse operations, shipping, finance, customer service, human resources, and other business functions.
• Partner with employees and business leaders to understand current processes, identify requirements, and translate operational needs into technical solutions.
• Develop integrations using APIs, webhooks, EDI, database connections, secure file transfers, flat files, and other appropriate methods.
• Create data mappings and transformations for customers, products, pricing, inventory, purchase orders, sales orders, shipments, invoices, and financial transactions.
• Build integrations with appropriate data validation, logging, monitoring, alerts, retry logic, and error handling.
• Monitor production integrations, investigate failures, identify root causes, and implement permanent solutions.
• Ensure that information moves accurately and on time between Priority's systems, locations, and business functions.
• Identify manual, repetitive, or error-prone processes that can be improved through integration and workflow automation.
• Work with ERP and application owners to support processes such as order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, inventory management, fulfillment, invoicing, and financial reporting.
• Establish practical standards for integration design, naming, documentation, testing, deployment, security, and change management.
• Maintain architecture diagrams, data mappings, technical documentation, support procedures, and operational runbooks.
• Partner with Security and Infrastructure teams to protect system credentials, service accounts, APIs, and sensitive business information.
• Support new system implementations, application upgrades, migrations, and other business technology initiatives.
• Evaluate integration requests based on business value, operational risk, security, maintainability, and alignment with Priority's technology strategy.
• Coordinate with software vendors, implementation partners, and consultants when outside assistance is required.
• Share knowledge and provide technical guidance to Business Systems team members and application owners.
• Participate in troubleshooting and incident response for business-critical integrations when required.
Required Qualifications
• Five or more years of experience in application integration, business systems engineering, software development, or a related technical field.
• Demonstrated experience connecting and supporting enterprise business applications.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, SOAP services, webhooks, and common application-integration methods.
• Experience working with JSON, XML, CSV, SQL, and data transformation.
• Knowledge of system authentication and integration security, including OAuth 2.0, API keys, certificates, service accounts, and credential management.
• Experience building production integrations with monitoring, logging, data validation, error handling, and recovery processes.
• Ability to investigate complex technical problems involving multiple applications, vendors, networks, or data sources.
• Ability to understand business processes and translate business requirements into reliable and maintainable solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical subjects clearly to employees and business leaders without requiring a technical background.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities.
• Ability to take ownership of work and operate effectively with limited supervision.
• Strong attention to detail, especially when working with operational, inventory, order, and financial information.
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience supporting, administering, developing, or integrating an ERP system.
• Experience using an iPaaS platform to connect an ERP with warehouse management, CRM, shipping, EDI, purchasing, financial, customer-facing, or other enterprise systems.
• Understanding of common ERP processes and data flows, including order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, inventory management, order fulfillment, invoicing, and financial reporting.
• Experience working with systems supporting manufacturing, wholesale distribution, logistics, or multi-location warehouse operations.
• Experience integrating warehouse management systems, transportation systems, shipping carriers, or customer portals.
• Knowledge of EDI transactions and business-to-business data exchange.
• Experience replacing point-to-point integrations, manual file transfers, or repetitive data entry with centrally managed integrations.
• Experience with JavaScript, Python, or another scripting language.
• Familiarity with version control, automated testing, and structured deployment processes.
• Experience developing integration governance, security, documentation, and data-management standards.
• Experience supporting business-critical integrations in a high-volume operational environment.
• Relevant ERP, integration, or iPaaS platform certifications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• A practical approach to designing solutions that are reliable, secure, and easy to support.
• Ability to balance immediate operational needs with long-term system maintainability.
• Ability to understand how information moves through an entire business process, not just between two applications.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and nontechnical employees at all levels of the organization.
• Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and accountability.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn Priority's business operations in detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a growing and fast-moving organization.
• Commitment to documentation, testing, security, data accuracy, and operational reliability.
Measures of Success
During the first 6-12 months, the Senior Integration Engineer will be expected to:
• Develop a strong understanding of Priority's applications, integrations, and key business processes.
• Deploy and assume ownership of the iPaaS environment and existing production integrations.
• Document the current integration landscape and identify risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
• Improve monitoring, alerting, documentation, and operational support for critical integrations.
• Establish practical integration development and governance standards.
• Reduce integration failures, manual data entry, and recurring support issues.
• Deliver new integrations and workflow automations that improve business speed, accuracy, and reliability.
• Build trusted working relationships with Operations, Sales, Finance, IT, and other business stakeholders.
• Create a scalable integration foundation that supports Priority's continued growth.
Work Environment
This is a hands-on senior individual-contributor position within the Business Systems team. The role requires someone who can work independently while building strong working relationships throughout the company.
The Senior Integration Engineer must be willing to understand Priority's operations - not simply the technology behind them. The best solutions will come from understanding how information moves from customer demand through inventory, purchasing, order processing, warehouse fulfillment, shipping, invoicing, and reporting.
